....I've finaly turned the corner.

I started playing golf at the end of the 2007 season, and have entered nearly all the comps I could.

I was given 22.0 to start with and frustratingly after many times in the buffer, it had crept up to 22.5.

On Sunday I managed overcome the mental challange to replicate my Sat morning form.

I scored 41 points and I have therefore been cut to 20.9. I can't wait to see if I can keep this going on Sunday this week.

Darlington = Land of the Quaker?? I am from Richmond orginally.

Ahh. Sorry m8. I've only lived here for about 6 years. I'm from Northallerton originally but i was in the RAF for 9 years then moved here.

So not heard that 1 yet.. must be a footbal thing i guess.

I can't wait to see if I can keep this going on Sunday this week.

For the love of god dont put too much pressure on yourself as its a recipe for disaster!!

Cracking score to get cut, but if you go out on Sunday with the expectations of playing the same, as soon as you duff a shot you're going to beat yourself up over it.

You're right Keef, i know but i have been putting that kind of pressure on myself from the start, i feel like i can deal with it a lot better now. I just go out and have a good laugh with the lads i get drawn with. the golf just either happens or it doesn't but we have a great time either way.

At the moment i play at stressholme in Darlington, i joined there thinking it was a good place to start and get a handicap with the intention of moving to a "proper" private club after the first year, but like so many others at stressholme i'm finding it hard to leave as the course is great and there are some really good lads here.
I'm looking at moving to Richmond or maybe Woodham next year. Where do you play? Mid Yorkshire isn't it?

Stressholme is my nemesis!!! Used to play there a lot when I lived in Billingham. Cracking course for a muni though it has to be said and still the only place i've ever driven a par 4 green off the tee....the 3rd :D

Lost count of the amount of balls i've put in the stream on the 4th from a duffed tee shot too.

As many times as i've played there though I have never ever ever shot under 100, when you consider I shot 104 round Stressholme the last time I played, then shot a 91 round Woodham the day after its all psychological! lol

Woodham is a fantastic course, and after The Belfry it is without doubt THE best track i've played on, bit expensive though, think we paid £45 during the week.

Woodham is a lot cheaper at the moment i've been told, i've not tried it out yet though. You will have to come and try out Stressholme again sometime after the war of the roses meet we should sort something out.

Deffo mate, i'm up there quite a bit anyway as all my family still live up there. I'm playing Billingham on Friday with my brother.

I'll take on Stressholme now i'm more consistant, I bet I still have a proper mare though :D

Go out to enjoy the game and not focus on doing better or worse than last time. That score is in the history book now and you can't do anything to change it (nor would you want to after that cut) but if you try and compare where you are at the weekend compared to the same stage last time as you go around it will lead you to make mistakes.

No golfer can go out and predict what they are going to shoot. I think that sometimes even setting a goal of breaking 100, 90 or even your lowest ever score just adds pressure to your game and you focus more on the score than on the game itself.

Go out, have fun and let the score take care of itself.

Well played, its great to get a cut early enough in the season--it gives you a confidence boost knowing you can score well in competition.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

I hate you!! For me to drop 2.4 in one round I would have to shoot 53!!! And with the CSS at Bellshill id probably only make buffer!!!

I like that you're putting pressure on yourself. Doing it when you are in form is brilliant, just don't be too hard on yourself if it does all go belly up next month, there's always the following month.

Can you get to 18 by the end of September ?

Wp, btw.
