I was lucky enough to be in the grandstands on 18 at the Open on Sunday, I was pin high on the the right hand side as you play the hole about ten rows back in just about the most perfect position to watch the 30 foot that the majority of players seemed to have for eagle, I was there for a good four or five hours, having sat down as Tigers group left the green. Anyway, having seen nearly every group play he hole, there were a couple of cool things to report, firstly, after D.A. Points' group finished the hole and the crowd had finished their customary round of applause, Points shouted "Thank you all for coming" will turning to acknowledge the entire grant stand, I thought that was an awesome thing to do and proves that not all elite sports people see their fans as pains in the you-know-where. If only the more famous players in the game could show the same sort of respect to their fans. Secondly, Sergio Garcia is the most beloved European player since Seve, he genuinely got a bigger cheer from the fans than anyone else, including Rory. I would have giving my left bollock to see Sergio winning the Claret Jug, but these things are not meant to be. I feel his time is about to come and I can't see anyone begrudging him at least one major, he is too good not to have won one.
