What are your thoughts on seeing all of the golf hole from the air? Couple of colleagues have bought a small model helicopter, they used it on Top Gear. It has high end camera on it.
If I go to a new course I like to see the pictures to get an idea of how the land lies. Just thinking would it be a good idea to approach owners and film the course for visiting golfers like myself?

Some clubs have a "Fly-past" view of their course on their websites

Not sure it gives the best representation, might be a bit tricky to pick up undulations but it's worth a shout.

Not sure how much benefit it would be over the already available course planner\GPS\Google Earth and sounds like a lot of hassle to me. Whatever floats your boat but can't see it making your mates much money TBH.

Good for marketing material, not any use for planning a round.

If DMDs played video and you could superimpose yardages and slopes on the video then it might be of help.

I find I get more than enough info from my eyes and a laser range finder/course planner.

I'm assuming the idea is for a business offering this as a service to clubs for their websites.

Obviously a lot of clubs already have such videos and I find them quite interesting.

Clearly there is a potential market but not sure how many compaines are already out there. Would they be offering anything special over and above current providers? Is there capacity in the market for new entrants?

I would imagine you'd also need some professional editing facility to get the best out of the videos.

You'd need to guage demand by contacting clubs and find out more about the costs to develop a business model.

Could be a business in it.
