Any recommendations for what to do when your driver is being a fool!

I have already dropped it on tight tee shots before anyone says don't use it!

The thing is I really want to use it as up until a week ago I was hitting it long and far... I have been at my new club a week now and the other day I bumped into a new member who said how well I hit the ball off the tee... The issue is its deserted me i am now hitting a snap hook. Even if its not a severe low hook it will go high and then Turn a corner!

I am hitting my irons really well though and managed to recover well but wont get as lucky tomorrow.

Any ideas?

Wish I could post a video but is there any known reasons I can try and discount?

your body is probably pointing way right (closed). Aim so you feel like your aiming left and put the ball further forward in your stance. works for me!

It happens.
Wednesday I began striping the ball off the tee with the driver.

Got to the 14th and it just went to Rat-Poo - all over the place in the space of 10 minutes.......

Could be psychological. You mentioned someone seeing you smash it off the tee, it could be what I call the ''hero syndrome''. To hit it even better and further to greater applause. But it never works that way.

Might be talking ''danglies'' or I could have a gas leak and I'm high as a kite...............................:fore:

Sounds like you've stopped turning your body and the arms carry on round. I had this problem for ages until I went to see bob! I had a grip issue that closed the face causing the hook to start with. Because I was so fearful of hooking the ball sub consciously I had stopped turning which caused the arms/hands to whip through causing the ball to snap hook and go further left.

Hope that makes sense, there is light I'm driving the ball better than ever at the moment.

Great advice guys.

Think its part mental but also remember a playing partner say I had lined up right - he never saw the flight and started walking down the right hand rough to find it and was suprised when I said didn't you see that move 40 yards from right to left ha!

Lets see what tomorrow brings. Thanks again

It's happened to me, I can't hit my Mp600 without it going 120yds and ends up running horizontal. I'm certain a 460 doesn't suit me for some reason. I gave up drivers for a while but found a 3 iron off the tee will only go 160-170 max, I'm losing 50 yds I'm only just learning my 10.5 TM bubbleshaft burner again and easing it out just beyond what the iron does but it's inconsistent, keep at it like me, It'll come back with time and practice.

A good driver of the ball doesn't become a terrible one over night - there will be something simple which is causing the snap hook.

"Evesdad" makes a good point, try and take that on board. A lack of lower body rotation can cause a hook/snap hook. Make sure that you are committed to the shot and rotate all the way through.

Also think about ensuring that the logo on your glove points towards the target for as long as possible after impact. Clearly, the clubface is closed at impact, so this little tip will help keep the clubface squarer for longer and help straighten out the hook.

Hope this helps.

Trust your technique!!!!

Its hard to hit a good drive when you come too much from the inside, set up SQUARE (be sure to check this) then try and hit a fade with your swing-path only.
