Sold my newer irons recently and put in the bag an old circa 2000 set of Adams GT2 irons that ive had for years simply cos I play better golf with them :).
Anyone still playing oldies?

If you are a good ball striker they are fine. New irons are tremendously forgiving though. My son has some Callaway X2 hot irons and even poor strikes go well. Your hands don't hurt when you thin one in winter either 😁

I have two sets at the moment. Ping G5 and Mizuno comp-ez. Not sure which is older, but pretty confident that neither of them is responsible for my 12 handicap....

Welcome along. Nice forgiving clubs you have so that will help as you start. Always the option to upgrade as you improve

Thank's :) did a 3 month membership offer last year and got given a first h'cap of 18, just need to actually take the plunge and join a club and be a regular golfer to get better! :D

I've recently taken up this beloved game and my first set of irons is a set of Ping G15's. Now I just need to learn to hit it straight.

First lesson booked on Monday

Just moved to Callaway X-12 Pro Seres Irons and a set of Callaway Big Bertha Tour Series Wedges with Rfile 5.0 shafts. Big headed irons but no offset. Working great for me. Also use a 30 year old Ping Putter.

Very nice irons and Some money left over for lessons. Game Changer right there!

Would also add having a cavity back on the wedges is to me reassuring. Quality examples are hard to come by in the USA.

Just recently ditched my old Tommy Armour 845 irons what were 18 years old I think and switched to Mizuno MP 25s the difference is amazing but I still love to go out for a knock with my old irons
