Are the larger golf retailers becoming the new DFS?

No, not selling you a nice foreign built couch with your new shinies but the never ending sales and reductions that they advertise?
It's making me chuckle now as got an email from Online Golf with "Autumn Price Drops Not To Be Missed!" and had a quick look... No different to the prices being quoted from last week, in fact in one case (Mizuno MP53 irons) they are advertising at £50 MORE than two weeks ago (£499 now as oppose to £449 then).

I know that the financial climate means that companies are having to really go at it to attract the business but is this really now getting to the stage where it's almost as laughable as DFS with their 365 day "sale"?

This is in no way restricted to OG by the way, it was just that example that raised my eyebrow. DG are just as bad as AG/OG.

I have to agree Greg.

I've signed up to news lettes from most of them that arrive by email. It does make me chuckle to see some of them, as you say, the same price they were the week before.

Like you say, in the current financial climate they certainly have to take the DFS approach with some places like DG offering flexi-pay terms over 12 months+ on finance, very DFS.

I suppose it's a sign of the times we live in where a once niche market has become over-populated and now everyone is looking for an edge.

Reminds me of the infamous visit from Everest Double Glazing.

(Whole house)

First offer. £12,000.

Second offer. £8,000

Final, special, once only offer £4,600.

"That's great, I replied. Staybrite offered me £4,700".

"Great, so you want to sign"?

"No, I want you to remove yourself from my house and go back where you came from."

Get an email every/other day from Online Golf telling me about their latest sale! I thought there was a rule that said they had to have a time during the year when the "sale" isn't on?
