There wasn't any prizes offered for last month Andra. Don't know if Mike forgot about it or there just isn't any more.
Bloody typical as well.
The first one where it was my post that was used as well.

Haven't received my copy yet. Is there anything in the Max Your Game section about a cack handed old git having a lesson on his downswing?

There is indeed Leftie!
Another forumer revealed....Roger.
2 pages worth all about you! I hope all that instruction and fitting has you swinging it better!
Interested to read they recommend a stiff shaft upgrade in your woods.
90mph clubhead speed is pretty good for a self-proclaimed 'old git'- I'm not taking you on! ;)

There wasn't a fitting as such. The launch monitor gives the clubhead speed and Paul just made the comment that if I was going to be changing my woods, he would be happy for me to go to a stiff shaft.

The main improvements so far are that I am now using my driver which used to gather dust in the garage, instead of my 3 wood and am now getting 20/30 yds extra with virtually no loss in fairways in regulation (down from 64% to 61%. Sounds a lot but is only an average miss of 1 fairway in 2 rounds.) Because of the extra length and better swing plane I am now hitting 28% greens in regulation instead of 19%.

Average net score has dropped by 1.5 shots per round, even bearing in mind winter conditions.

It was a very worthwhile session and my thanks go to GM for the opportunity. Another visit to Paul is to be made in the near future.

Quick survey of this thread suggest to me that copies go North of the Border first (another advantage to living n Scotland!)
Not a sign of ours yet though we've had the sub for a while (and I hear I'm in there too!)

Ali,
I did read your article in the mag - very well balanced piece, well done, also good to put another name to a face too.
Advantages to living in Scotland? Golf is probably the main one for me - lots of golf courses plus a low population = cheaper green fees and lots of free tee times!
Disadvantages - sometimes the weather!
Didn't realise we get the mag before you...seems odd as we're further away?

Tell me about it! Still consider myself exiled Scot though only took up golf long after I'd left (lived in St. Andrews for 4 years - biggest missed opportunity of all time!)

AliB, you're not alone, GM hasn't made it up the A1 either.

Lots of coincidences opening up - I was stationed at RAF Leuchars years ago - had one round at St Andrews then never lifted a club again until just over a year ago.

I was also stationed in Cornwall - never got round to surfing - there was always next week, then you got drafted and it was too late. B****r!

I'm in Central London- Copy turned up on Monday 8am (that's way before the main post of the day). Sorry to burst the 'goes north first' bubble folks.

Viscount
B. annoying, I agree. As for surfing,I suppose it's never too late. I actually did canoe surfing at St. Andrews (but give cold water a wide berth these days!)
Hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Fife.

AliB

Ali, this is getting weird!
I tried canoeing while I is was there, both on the Tay and in the surf. Enjoyed it, but soon found myself at sea (on an aircraft carrier) for extended periods so it came to naught.
Did a lot of driving up into the hills trying out my then new camera, which was subsequently nicked in Malta.
With a group of friends, managed to empty a succession of Dundee pubs - with our short haircuts and one or two wearing Burberrys, they thought we were the polis and couldn't get out quickly enough.
Built a bar when the Sergeants mess caught fire - turned out the cook was a master brickie. (Probably explained his Yorkshires)
Also got to see the inside of Cupar police cells for a night,
Played hard, did enough work so it wouldn't notice, then played harder!
