...at Swanley, Kent??

And, if so, is it really an "inlands links golf course", and is it any good??

Is it worth £12 for a round (after 4pm in July) ????

Played it in the winter and it was in ok'ish condition.

Its a strange course with one hole playing like a horse shoe!!!!!

It was busy when I played it, so would think a nice afternoon/evening would be very busy.

Hi Roger,

I've played it a few times, about 4-5 years ago - not long after it opened. It is quite linksy and of course when it's windy there's no protection!
I really can't remember much about it but for £12 after 4pm I'd say give it a bash and open those shoulders

When I played there the club house, pro shop and toilets were all porta cabins - don't know if they've built new yet.

Please let us know what ya think. :)

I don't think it was orginally intended to be an "inland links course" Rog.
From what I understand, it was planned to be a beautiful parkland layout, meandering through swathes of pine, beech and oak trees with a babbling brook, deer roaming free and peacocks strutting gracefully around.
But they ran out of money half way through, couldn't afford the saplings so decided to leave it featureless.
They could have called it a dump but decided "inland links course" sounded better.
Enjoy
;)

I played it at Xmas 18 months ago and they crammed on too many people and my groups (8) were never going to get round before dark. We quit after 11 holes and, with some difficulty (them not us), negotiated a reduction for another round.

Going back later, I found the course to be certainly worth £12 of anyone's money. There are a fair number of doglegs and a course planner and/or Skycaddie would be useful but on a nice day the views are magnificent and I would play it again. The clubhouse may now be finished and there is a really good range there but, as its a municipal course, you could be on a 5 hour round so dont tee off too late!

We had a society there in April. They have now been granted full planning for a club house, so the old portabins have gone and unfortunately at the moment the clubhouse is 3 steel containers joined, that said the staff although rough around the edges have been the most friendly and helpfull of all the courses i have played this year.

IMO yes it is currently playing like a inland links course or was when we payed it, mega wind as its on the side of the M25, fast greens with doglegs being a major feature. Alot of the guys i play with often opt for courses with massive clubhouses etc, but all of them were very impressed with teh condition of the course and the attitude of the staff and since april 90% of them have been back for another round. It was in really good condition when we played too.

But seriously, for 12.00, can you complain?

Thanks Oddsocks.

Looks like we must give it a try.

I know Park Wood. Played there several times over the last few years. A good society course (as is Shoreham aka Darenth Valley)

leftie, we played shoreham and to be honest i found it really boring, with the exception of about 2 holes i havent rushed to go back, although we did play it in really bad condition due to about a months weather being wet!

On teh pedham place situation, one thing i liked is im quite a long hitter with my driver, and pedham forced me to think about alternatetive clubs on their do legs as alot of them bent at around 190-230 meaning my driver was always too much. i think its defo a course you have to play for position rather than length.

selsdon park is also doing twilights at a 10'er, another good value for money after work wack. we tee'd off as a 3 ball last thursday at 5.30 and was back in for 9pm and that was me (16 hc although it was a dream round) a 24 and a 28 hc with a bit of time wasted looking for balls, if your half decent players you could do 3 hours around there no issue at all.

If Pedham has lots of dog legs, Leftie will feel right at home. He hates seeing where the hole goes.

Never been keen on Selsdon Park. I think it is the elevated greens.

I've played Pedham a few times and quite like it. Can be fairly difficult 1st or 2nd time out as the location of the greens are not always obvious from the tee's . There are a couple of lovely 'drop down' holes but some vicious dog legs...and if the weather gets bad , you're quite exposed on the middle holes . Worth a punt though
