Hi all,

As everyone else I am gagging for a game and contemplating arranging a meet for sometime in February.

Would like to play somewhere a little special in the Essex/Kent area and wondered whether anyone had any experience of Chart Hills?

Cheers,

Rob.

I've played it. It's a good course - very long and very challenging.

I believe you can get some very good deals there as well.

You have put me off already! :D

I have been thinking about Princes or Deal as well as trying links golf is on my "to-do" list for 2011.

Now that my game is at a "not too vomit inducing" level, I am hoping to play a few of the top courses this year.

Ideally about one a month would be good so I may need some company from other forum members :D

Chart Hills is "ok" but nothing special.
Played it a few times and whenever the question comes up "whats the best course you've ever played" it never even enters my head. It's that forgettable. Nice greens, some big bunkers. That just about sums it up.

If it were me I'd be heading for Royal Cinque Ports or Littlestone if you fancy something a tad cheaper but still a great test of golf.
Both will hold up well to the bad weather, and have greens to die for.
That's where my money would be heading.

I have played it several times and always enjoy it. Good layout with many good holes. Lovely clubhouse and the meals have always been very good.

The only problem for me is that I think its a lovely place from about May onwards when the flowers and trees are in bloom. The trouble in the winter/early spring for me is it gets wet and I have lost balls coming in from a height that have plugged round the greens and I havn't found them.

For me it is a course that I really like and if the place had a good club atmosphere and was more reasonable I would consider joining.
