anyone know Moor Allerton

I was a member for years at Moor Allerton. It's a great course and certainly not easy. there are a few blind tee shots, and the approach to the short par 4 6th is difficult as the green is extremely elevated compared to the fairway. I'd recommend playing the bottom and top 9s (1-9 & 19-27) if you only get to play 18. For £25 it's a steal

The course is American style so might not suit some but personally I think it's a great lay out, a lot of good holes and maybe a couple of weak ones but when you have 27 it doesn't stand out as much. It's wide open from the tee but as people have said the greens are the real defence of the course. They are very slopey, you have to be very careful where you leave yourself on the green.

I would rate Moortown on a par to Moor Allerton, all be it being a different type of course but I do know some people who rave about it. Alwoodley I would class as a notch above both.

Like Lump has said the greens have been struggling a bit, the green keeper has under gone a project to change the soil composition as they were full of thatch by injecting a lot of sand into them and it's a pretty invasive process. The lack of rain this month has meant that they have recovered a lot slower than hoped. They are getting there and I expect them to be pristine in a few weeks.

I am surprised they are offering tee times at £25 but if that is the case it's extremely good value for. It's a lovely place to play golf and I don't think you will be disappointed with it.

One of the last courses I played before moving back to Ireland. It rained all day but the course held up really well. Can't remember what 2 9s we played bit there was some great holes.

I played awful that day but it was a lovely place to hack it round. Fantastic condition.

25 quid is an absolute no brainer. 27 holes. I would love to be a member there.
