Eeek. Just got a Penalty Notice through the post for turning left out of Brook Street in Kingston and no memory of seeing a "no left turn sign!" Looking at the "evidence pic" they sent, I cant see one... when I look on Google Earth it is there and obvious!

I was following sat nav, so might have missed it... any local knowledge say for sure? There goes another £65 :rolleyes: :ROFLMAO:

I've been driving in London for 25 years. New signs going up all the time. Confuses the hell out of me.
Recently found out London Bridge is forbidden for cars, after driving over it. Went back to check the signs and they were just a confusing mess of contradictions.
I pity new drivers or older folks who aren't confident or familiar with it all.

Sorry. I've been no help whatsoever.

Check online to see if there have been complaints about poor or confusing signage for this. If it can be shown then you may get a refund. I don't want to get your hopes up but worth a few minutes of searching. It wont work if it is you on your tod but if there is a flood of complaints then you may have a chance. If there are a number of complaints then email the appropriate section in your council.

Haven't been there for a while but if Google Earth is accurate then with my TraffPol hat on I'm seeing 7 separate signs and a physical feature indicating that you can't turn left that I'd be pointing out to the Beak if I was prosecuting

I think I'm being taken out to buy a new washing machine on Monday, I'll have a look if I get a chance.

Sorry m'lud, it was the 15 pints of snakebite wot dun it!

That's weird, I was lost and following sat nav, I stopped at the traffic lights, but sure I didn't see any "no left turn signs" - but there's no way I missed 7 :)

Turned left onto the A307 Wheatsheaf Way towards the station?

Hate driving in London, been lucky over the years to not get anything until last week.

Got 2 tickets for going down the centre in my van…going to site @0030 then coming back @0430
Fine was for passing on the right side of the arrow. Utter BS tickets.

Are you sure it wasn't one of the many local council imposed cars banned roads that have sprung up in the name of "green"?
Just money making excersizes.

Pretty sure it's been "no left turn" for quite a while. Looked at it on StreetMap and recognised it as somewhere I once wanted to turn left but realised I couldnt. Then spent the next 20 minutes or so blundering around Kingston trying to get back on track.

You're right, you didn't; it was 8  (now I've got rid of the bus :))

Can't put the screenshot up, but as you drive south;

1. Straight ahead arrow.
2. AHEAD ONLY text
3. Straight ahead arrow.
4. Primary Traffic light; green "ahead only" arrow.
5. Primary Traffic light; white on blue "ahead only" arrow.
6. No Right Turn sign
7. Secondary Traffic light; green "ahead only" arrow.
8. Secondary Traffic light; white on blue "ahead only" arrow.

9. Nearside kerb splays to the right to push you straight ahead & deter the banned left turn.

:eek::eek: was in traffic, sure car in front went left and sat nav sent me left.

Something odd

Be grateful it was the council; ignoring the green light aspect carries a endorsement on your driving licence.

It's not the worst one I know; Queens Road, Wimbledon had 19 separate signs leading up to it.

Not surprised that the satnav doesn't recognise a banned manoeuvre.

I think Bagleys Lane at the backside of Wandsworth Bridge Road beats the money taken per minute.

Lots of new signs around. I live a couple of miles west and our local FB group is full of people having penalties for turned they have done for years before. We belong to Richmond council, different people to Kingston getting ‘our’ money.

Is the yellow box by Charring Cross hospital in Hammersmith still the highest earner in London?
No, its the 2 box junctions where Wandsworth Bridge Rd and New Kings Rd meet.......and now they have the local cameras round the back which even do you for using the pay by phone parking there too:mad:
