Any other courses closed today????

Went up to my course this afternoon for 9 holes(Garesfield,Newcastle ) without even thinking to check if it would be closed.I would normaly ring the recorded message put out daily.But as today it was ONLY "freezing 0 degrees " (as to minus 4 on wednesday when I played ) did not think there would be a problem,although it was noticeably colder with no sunshine.

Got there and it was shut.Frozen pools of water all over especially on winter greens.VERY UNDERSTANDABLE once my intial frustration had coolede down.

Lesson learnt now ALWAYS ring the course weatherline

I rang the recordeed message today at lunch time just to get an idea of what state it is in as tomorrow looks like a sunny but cold day (3-4 degrees) so hoping to play, our course was "Open on a Mixture of Temp/Main Greens, with the 4th hole shut."

So I am hoping for no rain or snow tonight, and a sunny day tomorrow, should mean that 17 holes should be open on main greens. I cant see the 4th opening for a couple a months, as I know they are trying to preserve it as it gets very very wet!

Loved my golf today Fabian. Course was magnificent mate. For February the greens were great, such a delight to walk off a course with clean shoes. Links is the only way to go buddy. Cheers again for a brilliant day even although my partner was crap!

Closed until at least Tuesday. Round 7 of the winter league(Texas Scramble) has been dropped completly as it was meant to be played Sunday.

played front nine today at bedlington( north of newcastle). on temps and the odd puddle. bloody cold though
