A few years ago I decided I was going to build my own guitar from parts. I bought the body first and started to paint it but with one thing and another taking up too much of my time (and a loss of interest) it remains unfinished, and I was wondering if it's worth enough to make the hassle of ebay worth going through?

I bought it from a place in America called Warmoth (I think) and I know it wasn't cheap but can't remember how much.
It's a Strat shape, and solid ash. There were 2 types iirc and I had the one with the fancy grain because I was going to make the paint finish transparent.

Any ideas what it might fetch?

I've had a look on ebay but I don't know enough about them to know what's comparable.

Thanks.

I sold a fender strat body and an old 80's squier Tele body for around £40-60 each a couple of years back. They both had pick ups and the wiring done aswell. If that helps.

Try logging on to www.licklibrary.com/forum2. If you then go down to Contributors Corner and pick on Michael Casswell either he or one of the forum members will give you a sensible reply (just like here!). You might have to register first before you can post. I've heard of Warmoth and as there are a couple of regular knowledgeable american forum members you should get a response.

Gary, PM me the details and pics etc if you can, and I should be ableto help. I post on a forum that has alo of guitar players/builders.

Warmoth are a reputable company and make good quality stuff so you should get a fair price.

Look me up on Facebook (jonathan eve) if you're on there too, might get things rolling quicker.

Thanks for all the replies, useful stuff.

I'm not on Facebook Jon. I was but closed my account (long story).

Here's the pics. I presume the Turtle thing in the last one shows where it came from?
You can see the nice grain through the paint still, it just needs a coat or two more of really thin colour I reckon.

Nice looking body! Looks like a 1-piece too which isnt common. Bet it's heavy!

I'll see what I can do for you.

Is it just t body you're looking to ge rid of? Or do you have other parts as well (neck, hardware etc)

Yeah, I'm fairly sure it's one piece because the grain is continuous from one side to the other. Does weigh a bit too.

I decided not to get any of the other parts until I'd finished the body, so it's just that.

Thanks for your help Jon.

never saw a 'strung thru the body' strat clone before, nice chunk of wood though, pity its not coffin routed to offer the variety of putting together a fat strat.

On a golf/ guitar fusion theme tho I just punted some parts from a half completed (half assed) project and raised enough to purchase my nice new shiny Deep Red 3 Wood and a fairly natty Wilson Staff bucket rain hat
