Antique balls

I don't recognise the brand but my view of anything on ebay is that the value is what I'm prepared to pay for them, unless you're bidding to resell when knowing the vaule would help!

No idea about the value but in my experience with collectables if you can't find much info about it then the value is dictated purely by the person buying them rather than the market. Looking at the bidding history it also looks like a two horse race. Something I personally don't like seeing on ebay because it is so easy for a seller to have a second account that can be used to bump prices.

I do wonder if maybe they where sold by Lewis's department store. They aren't likely to be older than 1940's and given the packaging I'd guess at the 60's. Shame the photos are so poor.

Looking at them though I wish they package balls like that again. I can imagine the feeling of unwrapping one at the start of the round would be something a little special. I think I'd probably get past that by the 2 tee when I'm unwrapping the 4th though.

This was my initial thought - wasn't uncommon for bigger stores to package their own label for amny items..

My Mrs found an old Warwick mesh and dimple while searching for her own ball last year. I believe it dates back to the 1920s, always been curious about its value (if any) - ebay seems a bit hit and miss on things like that.

Mesh golf ball values greatly depending on condition and the pattern on the balls. For example a standard Dunlop England square mesh golf ball would fetch approximately £15-£30.00 dependent on condition. Whilst the more unusual patterned balls such as the Star Challenger with a star mesh pattern can fetch in excess of £500.00 dependent on condition. The more unusual the pattern the more the ball is worth.

I used to be an avid collector some years back of vintage golf gear, judging by the photos they look like square mesh balls,i'm no expert but 4 unused still wrapped and boxed mesh balls for the price you paid,I'd say your done pretty well.

Thanks for the response mate. Condition - awful, don't want to scrub it too hard or use anything too caustic on it. If the value is 15 - 30 squid then I would prefer to keep it. Wouldn't it be great to know the history of it though?
