Following the Ball flight debate in Ask the Experts, i was doing some putting expereiments with varying face angles and clubhead paths and using teh V-easy on the floor opened out at various angles to set the clubhead path or face angle.
But i found you can use this on the range as well with full shots
(The V-easy is 1metre long, so if you are scientifically inclined you can easily work out how much to open the end if you have a ruler to generate a fixed angle; or you can just do it by eye if you prefer)
You can then lay this down to your right and see the outside-in or inside-out line which you work with to fade or draw the ball by changing clubhead path (and/or face angle).
Alternatively you can lay it perpendicular in between your legs to help align face angle and experiement with that.
Alongside all the debates we've been having this has been really useful visual aid that might suit some people.
Bob - what was the logic of the spacings of the alignment aids ? They are at 80mm spacings but start at something like 60 and then 275mm from the joined end . You could possibly sell it with a little plastic clip that could be attached between the 2 rods at any of the marks (if you put the marks in teh right places
) and get a (say) 2.5 degree angle on the rods each time you move the clip further up the rods. Then people have a consistent way of say knowing what a 5 degree open stance looks like when they address and how much fade that gives them.
This thing gets more useful the more you use it
