£400 for a junior? 😲

My current place it's £60 for 18 and under, I'm going back to my old club next season and it's £34 for 18 and under there.
It does seem excessive on the face of it and other clubs in the area are cheaper.

But....although we don't have a lot of younger members, by comparison to days gone by, we have significantly more then ever....and the average age of a male member has dropped from around 60 to 56 since I last looked about 2 or 3 years ago.

However, due to our location stuck out in the countryside with no direct public transport links, I don't think we are ever going to have a significant junior membership....indeed, when a lot of the safeguarding regulations started appearing in the early 2000's, the then owner largely had little interest in encouraging juniors to join.

5.8% increase from April to £1,850. Not too bad considering were are the best course in Maidstone and the surrounding area. Some members had feared it would be higher.

2026 £1058.50 up from £998.75 - 9 hole course only investment 2025 was solar panels not sure how the course improved for the install 🙈

+£60 toying moving again only been back a year, mainly due to poor chipping the ongoing 30yr issue.

Kings Hill must be Maidstone and has to be better ?
Depends what you’re looking for in a course. Not played it in a while Kingshill always had superb practice facilities, but whenever I’ve played it I’ve always found the course to be a little bit dull and uninspiring. Don’t get me started on the clubhouse is as sterile as an operating theatre with less atmosphere!

Plus I wouldn’t ckass Kingshill as Maidstone in area but that’s me being geographically pedantic 🤣

If you gave me the choice of Bearsted or King's Hill to join, I'd choose Bearsted every time, mainly for the reasons above.
KH has some really good holes and drains quite well, but it feels like a slog every time I play it.
And yes, that clubhouse! 🤣

Agreed Bearsted at least offers different challenges , shot options and shapes.

Kingshill clubhouse is like a dentists waiting room.

In a course I’m not looking for anything from a clubhouse although the balcony at KH is nice.

If it’s not Maidstone and we’ve established Bearsted is better than Tudor Park then it being best 1 out of 2 in Maidstone must mean it’s a good thing I assume!!

I’m the opposite I want a clubhouse to be welcoming with a warm atmosphere and the be somewhere I can unwind either alone, with PP or be able to take family. KH clubhouse is very pretty but is has none of those criteria and is unbelievably sterile and devoid of any atmosphere. It’s the kind of place you turn up play and avoid the clubhouse.

KH definitely isn’t Maidstone as it’s a borough of Tonbridge & Malling. Without googling it I’d say there are only 4 courses actually classed a Maidstone, Bearsted, Cobtree, Tudor Park and Leeds Castle. Of those it’s definitely going to be Bearsted the best course and best facility though it’s lacking a decent length practice ground.
