A couple of days ago, updated some of the apps on my HTC running Android kit kat. Not sure what happened after that, it rebooted in the middle of the day and all the contacts have disappeard!!!!. later in the day it backup my blank phone to the HTC backup and over wrote the contacts on the HTC backup too!!.. Not sure why this has happend, but all my contacts have gone!

I have noticed, the HTC does have a tendency to reboot on its own and has cleaned up stuff before. Not sure if it is an app somewhere or HTC or Android but this is bloody irritating.. I dont use many apps either. the flakiest one is perhaps the Yahoo mail.

Anyone with a Droid sized problem?

Strange one. HAven't experienced myself yet and hope not to but will be keeping a watchful eye on the updates.

I use good for contact backup so hopefully that's not a problem as well.

Are they not backed up on your Sim or on the Cloud?

I had put it on HTC Backup. But unfortunately, when I got home, it backed up my empty contact list and over wrote the good copy. So no luck.

Luckily, a few months ago my contacts were put on my office Outlook which is via Good... So have got some of it back.

But this is Irritating to say the least.. not sure what kicked off this reset???

If you've experienced sudden reboots in the past and not just this once then have a close look at the battery. A faulty or failing battery sometimes causes these events. Have experienced this with two phones and both times the batteries were visibly "bad" (mishapen and bulging). New aftermarket battery and problem solved.
