It has the ability to enter your scorecard on your mobile but still need to go to the terminal and accept it but it doesn’t have the ability to add a marker and player electronic signature

That I was aware of. At the present the player would still have to complete a card but it would remove the need to stand in turn at a computer terminal to input the card on to the computer system.

Why are they banned in the current rules situation?

It has been allowable to use a mobile phone (with an a APP) as a DMD device for sometime now.

We only have rules covering there use as a mobile phone on the course.
Honest answer is I don’t know.
I never use one so never asked!
If you get a call in the clubhouse you have to go outside as well.
That does seem old fashioned to me.

Sorry I am not up on these apps !
Surely you are doing your pps score and your own .
How do you put pps score in computer so he can check scores and sign for his score.?

The technology is not available here yet. Nor are the software providers in a position to process the scores.
It has been written into the rules because it has been available in the US and in anticipation of the WHS having the capability. It will include the facility for digital signatures.

A player is responsible for inputting his own scores on a computer not his PPS.

As said it was only pointed out to us that the facility is available last month. As far as I am aware it has not been trialled by a committee member yet and we have not dispensed with the requirements for cards in any way.

Lots of interesting points raised including our Trumpesque FAKE NEWS comment. Initially most players will have a physical card as a contemporaneous account of their round but this may change with time. Talking to a computer wizard at our club it is possible to have a separate terminal in the clubhouse that simply mirrors the score for each hole as you enter it on the main touch screen which then allows both player and marker to certify the scores. Whilst this makes zero difference to the player it allows handicap people to close comps without the need to retrieve cards 3 times a week. This is especially relevant in summer when players can be out on the course till late. BTW I am not our handicap chairman
