Just shows how it's never over until...... it's over!! Like potting the final black in snooker, getting the winning double in darts or sinking the final putt. NZ never stopped believing.

I've only seen the highlights, but from what I saw the kiwis dropped off their foils because they made a mistake by gybing where they did. A bit harder to tell for the Italians, the wind was light so it could have dropped off their foils just as a result of physics. It could equally have been because they made a small error in the tack and because of the light winds they didnt have any margin for error.

The biggest mistake of the day though was probably the Italians sail choice for the first race.

Have to say though, it was gripping stuff in race 8. Especially when the Italians came off the foils. Would they, could they, get back going before the Kiwis made up the gap.
 
I read a good story on BBC re the British entry. Boat designed along F1 technology. Olympic cyclists in the boat. It looks like they really have all bases covered. Good luck to them. I have a feeling that interest will grow and grow.

They’re definitely in with more of a chance this time around. Interesting how their performance has taken a big step up through stage 2 of the round robins.

Would be great to see them win the LV Cup and have a chance at the Americas Cup. Have a few personal connections on board, so getting insider knowledge

Do keep us in the loop. Last time I went sailing was on the Malcolm Miller. STA Boat. 👍
 
It's been a long, long time since The America's Cup has been displayed at an American yacht club, I believe..
We defended it successfully from the original 1851 victory until we lost it to an Australian boat in 1983.

I think we may have won it once or twice since then,
but we're no long a serious contender, it would seem.

We had big coverage of the event back when we were dominating.
Now, one never even hears of the race in America any more.

Too bad. It was quite the spectacle.

Won it in 2017 , 2014, and three times on tbe bounce in the 90’s
 
6-4 up and one race win required to get to the final. Not been watching it but how good are the Brits. 🤔

Up until today, they looked a bit ropey. We got a couple of “free” race wins due to the Italians having some issues.

Today though, two genuine good race wins. Italians must win all the remaining races now, which whilst difficult could absolutely happen. Certainly a happy team tonight.

So much will depend on the conditions for the remaining races though
