Perception is a funny thing. I have never met you but wouldn't have guessed that you were 6' 0 tall. Weird eh?
 
As a nation we are getting taller. A hundred years ago the average height was again significantly shorter. Better nutrition is the simple reason.

I'm 5'11, I've never considered myself tall, I'm slightly above average. When travelling it's a different story. In the Netherlands I feel short, but in asia I feel tall.
