Ambiguous Thread Titles

In terms of the hover function - its a comercial decision to not activate it as it reduces page views which is one of the metrics we trade on and as site where our only source of revnue is advertising and sponsorship we cant afford to make ourselves less attractive comercially

Out of interest (as a web designer) - has the new layout helped or hindered with that Mike?

By layout do you mean the forum or the whole site?

there's a lot I'd chnage in terms of layout and functionality of the whole site if I had a free hand but I dont!

That said we're up on traffic almost every month and March 2013 was our record month (by some margin) in terms of uniques and page views so going in the right direction

Would everyone PLEASE use a thread title that describes what's inside?

I'll understand if the answer's "no" .....

...but I reserve the right to put you on ignore!! hahaha!

(Q: Did that come across as abivalent enough? Don't want to offend anyone!)

I meant in terms of revenue Mike. The layout got changed as it was necessary to have some ads (and probably have some of them clicked) I was just wondering if the layout had helped in that area? It seems the new layout must be pleasing for users/members if traffic is up, and probably more 'Google friendly' but that doesn't necessarily mean more revenue if the ads are not being clicked (unless they are paying per/1000 page impressions?).

I must admit, there's been some WEIRD ads

I've not clicked one ad on this site intentionally! £499 a month for a land rover, bright orange Rickie fowler, and that annoying subscription... Non got clicked.

Hi James
pretty much all our advertsing is CPM (cant think anyone would trade on CTRs although brands do use that metric to measure efficency of certain campaigns) and with the forum delivering a large slice of site traffic we had to redesign it to incorprate the MPU slot which is pretty much the most popular spot and was lost when we moved to vbulletin

apologies to all for whom the above is double dutch!
