Is it a frustration for others that so many Lounge threads are created with titles that give no clue whatsoever as to the subject the poster wishes to open up for discussion?

This forum does not use functionality that allows visitors to hover over the thread title and see the first sentence or two so the only indicator for a viewer to decide if they actually want to open up a thread is the title itself

Just to use a few to demonstrate:
A sad day
Well if you cant beat them
Buzzing
Back again with good news
Yeah
12 & Done

I could list hundreds but if we assume that as individuals there are many golf topics that we want to read about and many we have no interest in, then my frustration comes from having to open these threads in order to find out what on earth the subject really is. Some I'm glad I did & others have no interest for me

Please just consider the viewer when titling your threads

one of those was mine. if I had made the title longer there would have been nnothing left for the actual post.

I only grabbed a few from the last 24 hours of active threads purely to demonstrate what I meant, as I say there are hundreds (likely thousands) but for anyone who has limited time on the forum it makes a difference whether a thread called Whoopie! is about Rory making a cut, new clubs being purchased, breaking 100 for the first time, solving the riddle of swing planes or 50 other topics

Its the forums fault really for not having the hover/appear functionality built in (c'mon guys its not like its 2007!) so I'm just asking everyone to consider this when posting

I have no problem with the titles as they are, it takes but a second or 2 to open, read the first line and decide if I carry on reading or not.

I think if you changed it to the level you want, it would become a very boring, sterile environment, and I for one would look for pastures new.

Maybe you would be more suited to a more serious topical only forum if this doesn't tick your boxes.

:D

not so much an ambiguous thread as a pointless thread

put more info into to the title cos slab can't be arsed to read them

Thats what it sounds like to me.

The hover over thing was done away with as there wasn't enough server space. There is no law to say you have to read every thread. I tend to look at it and also who posted the thread before having a look. Seems to work for me.

Don't think I can argue with this point at all sums I what I think perfectly

Takes 2 seconds to open a thread think nope not for me. Wouldn't it be a sterile boring world if everything and every post was structured in the same manner. If it were that way we'd have to rename the forum to the North Korea daily and then you know it'll all be the same

I don't believe that was what the OP was suggesting at all and you have clearly taken it to an extreme. A hover function is useful, it is used on virtually every other forum I use; I don't really wear the server space argument as it is possible to read threads going back to October 2008.

Wow, touched a nerve somewhere did I !

I make a simple post in the website/forum feedback section to highlight a frustration & asking for members to show some consideration for others & it’s called a waste of time and suggested I leave for other forums!

Guys wind your necks in & get a fresh pampers on, the arrogance & blinkered views are disappointing if a little unsurprising

Those that give no thought for other members experience on here are the forum equivalent of golfers who don’t repair pitch marks

Not everyone has fast broadband, making loading unidentified webpage’s a chore. Not everyone has the time to spend filtering the topics that aren’t of interest because the OP was too inconsiderate to title it... but don’t let these or the many other reasons put you off your ‘I’m alright jack’ mentality

I didn’t expect everyone to share my view but a couple of you are out of order, this forum is not a closed site for a few mates to hang out in

Wow thats a strong response :( the op came across as a real pointless whine. It reads like you want the thread to suit your needs, in which case your pitch mark point is completely redundant.

The nature of the forum is that you can't cherry pick, you take it for what it is, good or rubbish

I think Blade has a valid question, you don't seem very sunny in outlook, anything you wanna share with the group ??

Yeah just gloss over your own insightful contribution...

Its not a space issue, it does require more overhead resources to run the hover function along with all of the other functionality, the same server runs the other IPC forums and sites so I suppose it all adds up.
