Amazon to show premier league

Or it could mean you can pick and chose a bit more?

For example in my position I really only ever want to watch the majors as long as the ones in the US are not finishing at 3am, plus the Ryder Cup. But I ain't paying Sky's monthly subscription to do that as to me it does not represent good value.

So I don't get Sky Sports golf and don't watch any live golf anymore. But if say I could pay 20 quid to watch the Open then I'd happily do that. I know sky kind of do that through Now TV which is a good thing. But if you could pick and chose a bit more and pay a fee to watch certain tournaments then it would certainly benefit me.

I would imagine that fewer people pay for the occasional event and have saved money as opposed to those that have always been able to watch it through sky previously for one fee and now have to pay multiple suppliers (more) money for the privilege.

Sky go, or on demand services are a good idea, but overall they are just a way for the companies to squeeze extra money out of new and existing customers. Now benefit consumers.

According to the Daily Mail (yes, I know, but now Dacre has retired is it OK to quote them?) it will now cost £860 per year to watch all the PL games shown live.

EDIT - It looks as though the £860 is with Sky and it's £474 through BT Sport but that doesn't include the additional cost of Broadband on top which isn't quoted.

I already subscribe to Prime, I think it will be interesting to see if my £7.99 goes up?

It's nothing, Boxing day games (10) and 1 set of midweek fixtures (10).
Just a token gesture from Amazon to entice more people onto Prime with '20 live Premier League matches'.

Currently I pay £40 per month for the full Sky output and £6 to BT. That's a a lot less than £1300 per annum quoted.
