Alternative Targets

Tried breaking it down to three hole segments. It works. However I tend to get carried away with my competitive rounds (and NGT) and don't have the discipline of mind to keep it going. I'll try again at the weekend as we have a medal

Great thread. It's interesting as mine are similar in aim to most of yours but phrased differently.
1. Try to score stableford points on every hole
2. Play the percentage shot
3. Commit to the shot
4. Consistently apply my pre shot routine

Starting to get back some consistency but struggling a little with my swing which is costing me penalties and impacting on number 1.

Not sure about no three putts.:mmm:

I don't often three putt, but also don't hole many medium to longer putts. Good at lagging putts, but by putting quite negatively don't seem to hole my fair share either. Think I might be better three putting once a round, if it meant be more positive and holing one or two longer putts.

Also are all these negative thoughts a good way to approach a round ?:)

I didn't expect people to take me quite so literally.

I don't actively stand on the first tee and tell myself that these are my targets for the round.

No 3 putts and at least 1 birdie are little things to look back at after the round, and hopefully see streaks emerging over a period of time. If my score is shot to pieces I might use them as something to still play for, but they aren't in my thoughts until that point.

No doubles is something I only start to think about when I've found trouble, and again, to look back on.

Accepting the bad shots is something I actively try to do on the course, but it doesn't always work out :o
It is amazing though how effective it is when weighing up the options of a risky shot. As long as I understand the risk and am willing to take the chance, I can live with the outcome. It's putting it in a bunker from 100yds in the fairway where my attitude is tested the most.

Lets hope you attitudes right for Burnham your going to have to put all the negative thoughts away.
