Alnmouth Village GC is the little brother of the more illustrious Alnmouth (Foxton) GC next door. It is 9 holer on the NE Coast of Northumberland. Smashing course and currently in fantastic condition thanks to an excellent greenkeeper. The greens at the moment are as good as you will get in the NE, and probably further afield.

The signature hole is the par 4 7th, shown below. The green at the bottom of the slope is for another hole, you actually aim to the right of the two greenside bunkers and the green is further along that line. Hill to the right, beach on the left, Alnmouth in the distance. It is a lovely view from up there. The picture is taken from the tee box.

Once a year they mess around with the tees and greens and you actually play to the green below, as a par 3. It is still a good spank, about 190 / 200yds but it becomes a really spectacular hole then.

I've walked along on it on a stroll up to Embleton (where there's a lovely 18 hole links). Looks like a great place to have a round with the family on a summer's evening. Glad to hear it's as good as it looks.

That is some stroll. I am guessing that is Dunstanburgh GC you saw. That is a really good course but can be tough in summer as they are restricted in how much they can cut the rough, it is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Well worth a game there.

The village is a nice course, best played either first thing or late on to avoid daft walkers and holiday makers. It is in the shadow of its big brother but comes into its own during winter as only fog, snow and frost keep it closed. It will have done well for visitors this winter and spring. The GK has really got it playing well this year and it is getting some good praise locally because of it. I am pleased for them as it is a smashing local club and it is on the up at the moment.

Played The Village a couple of years back in early October and it was in superb condition. You look at the card and think it will be easy, but, you really have to play well to score well. The 7th can vary greatly depending on the breeze, even in the time it takes to go round a second time. It will be on my list to play again when back in the area 😉

Yep, that's the one.

Had lunch in Crastor and caught up with mate of mine who lives in an old farmhouse about 200 yards inland of the (roughly) 14th hole. Then off to the Ship inn for a few.
Unbelievably, he's lived there for nigh on 15 years and only started playing golf this year. What a waste!
