2-3 years ago, the following would have been true;

Moody, grumpy, never smiles, takes himself too seriously

This would have described Phil Mickelson

Now it applies to Tiger, with Phil a changed man and so much the better for it.

Was so pleased for him today, especially after the personal issues he's had to deal with this year.

Hopefully Tiger will take a leaf out of Phil's before everyones hates him?!

Phil seems to have learned about what really is important in life, and its hard not to like him. Tiger seems to have lost the plot.

To be totally honest, up until last year I hated Mickleson with a vengeance! All-American goody goody grinning like a Cheshire Cat Git!!!

Now I've got a lot of time for him, either I've changed or he has. I like the way he plays, he seems to enjoy it, and he misses short putts like I do.

Tiger's just becoming a caricature of himself, doesn't seem to be enjoying golf anymore and is, quite frankly, getting on my nerves. The sooner he beats JAck's record and retires the better.

I didn't like him either but HID did because he's from San Diego where her sister now lives so I started to take a passing interest. I have to say he has become a much more rounded golfer and off the course with his wifes current illness he has become a much more thoughtful and humble person. I like the guy now. I think Tiger has some lessons to learn

I read an article on him when he first came on the scene, and he came across as a right arrogant so & so.
I didn't like him for years because of it.
But the last couple of years have seem him mellow, and as far as I am concerned he is now one of the "good guys".
Nice bloke.

I've always liked big Phil, dont know why but I have.

What makes him stand out is that whenever he's walking to next tee/green he at times gives the fan a high 5 and the smiling is just natural. Alot of the other pro's and not just Tiger, wouldn't even look at the fan's.

I seen Phil go out of his way on Saturday to go and give someone in the crowd his ball, how many pro's do that?

I think his wifes and mothers illnesses have made him put golf into perspective, maybe i'm wrong but his on course demeanour has changed for the better.

I have often in the past lauded and backed Phil on here only to be shot down by Tiger fans.
Watched some of the HSBC re-run on Sunday and Tigers behaviour at times was nothing short of pathetic. Ok he was having a bad day (as we all do) but deals with having a bad day like a spoilt 3 year old.

I still really like TW too but Phil is playing the game in a better spirit these days.

Tigers 19 majors target is looking like a big ask at the moment.

PM started at a disadvantage with me because he looks like someone I haven't got the time of day for, but I like him and the way he plays the game a lot now.

Has anyone seen that clip on Youtube where he plays a lob wedge over his head facing the wrong way?

I'm sure a lot of people could play it, but to think of it in the first place is amazing imo.

It's amazing how almost everyone's opinions are similar.

I too didn't really care for the guy up to a couple of years ago. Typical brash yank.

I think his PR people have done a superb job for him.
His charm offensive has worked and is has come across as a thoroughly nice guy.

I think some of folks opinions are based on the fact that like other US golfers, they stay over their side of the pond. Phil has, in recent years chosen to widen his choice of event and I think that this has endeared himself to people (I hope KIM doesn't do the same as I REALLY don't like him)

I don't think it has anything to do with his wife's or mother's illness as he started to turn things around before they were diagnosed.

As for Tiger, what a superb golfer but a right miserable bleeder who throws the teddy out when things aren't going for him.
Lighten up fella, you CAN'T win EVERY time you play
