Alcohol Driving Limits and Plastic Bag Charges.

No idea about the plastic bag charges

Hope to see the alcohol driving introduced in the rest of the countries in the UK

Repeal them both, start charging people for prescriptions where they can afford it, end the council tax freeze and forget any notion of extending any tram lines!

Believe we are, maybe, a bit more 'responsible' down here and don't need the heavy hand of law to discourage use of plassy bags...

I believe you are getting it in October....according to my daughters business plan;)
Most supermarkets up here have put most of the 5p per bag charge towards local community events. Bit of a win/win.

Plastic bags- used to get stuffed into cupboard under the sink and used to line small bin.

Bought several heavy duty jute bags which (sometimes) live in the car to be reused for shopping.

Pile of carrier bags dwindled to nil.
Had to go out and buy bins bags.

Number of plastic bags used = the same !

NHS a shambles.

Policing a shambles.

Education a shambles.

Plastic bag usage sorted!

Plassy bags aren't the problem it's all the other plastic packaging that needs 'sorting'...

Especially at Easter, after getting through the huge box then the welded plastic sphere, you find a small thin chocolate egg if your lucky!

Instead of charging for plastic bags (and I am sure most places just keep the extra cash) why don't they insist the bags are bio-degradable. I am sure the technology exists to do this.

I watched a report on this and the emissions and waste is far greater and harmful to produce biodegradable products that not to! So, you end up with a biodegradable product that's safe to dispose of but it costs more and is not friendly to produce!

Reduce DD limit = yes.
Placcy bags = its just another tax. Doesn't make any differene to my attitude to asking for a bag, or how I dispose of it when it comes out from under the sink. It never gets used for a second visit to the supermarket.

Scotland is now the same level as most European countries.
England is higher.

Nowadays in Scotland you may be over the limit after one pint.
It has hit the golf clubs and country pubs quite hard.
One golf club reported that it had sold only four pints of beer in a week.

Isn't there more profit in soft drinks? What about car sharing and taking it in turns each weekend?

Are you suggesting that golf clubs will go about of business if they don't sell enough alcohol?

Don't get me wrong I love a drink (or 2) after a round and if they changed the laws down here, I'd find a way around it to suit me.

More than happy to see drink driving limits reduced. Zero would be ideal in my eyes. 5p on a plastic bag isn't really going to make a huge difference and save the planet

I take it you don't drive then Homer? A zero limit is completely impractical in the real world, the only winners being the insurance companies loading those who had a good night out, got a cab home and still have a trace when stopped the following morning.
