Ageism on the forum

As someone who is just edging into " bus pass" territory, I am irritated by the use of "old idiot" and " old drone" to describe Peter Aliss in recent threads. Similarly, "old codgers" is an insulting term that has been trotted out when complaining about seniors.
I console myself with this thought.Racists won't one day wake up and find that their skin colour has changed, sexists won't wake up and find that they have changed sex, however ageists.........

Hey, as soon as old people work out what to do at mini roundabouts and that they do not have to slow down to 15mph to go round a slight bend then there will be no more agist jokes.;)

As another in the 'not far off bus pass' category, I can't see any problem at all! Idiots are idiots whether young or old and some folk think Alliss - apparently lack of care about spelling (names particularly) isn't restricted to the 'young' - does drone on a bit, especially after the lunch time claret. I think he's almost the last of the great commentators - and speakers - about Golf.

It's only when it's not required to either put the word 'old' or other adjective that it becomes ageism in my book! There are plenty of 'old codgers' - and occasional idiots - in the Senior ranks, but there are plenty who are not as well! There are plenty of 'young codgers' and idiots about too!

There are also plenty of remarks against youth too. Plenty if implying that youngsters are rude too. Like all the oldies were angels when younger?
 
Got a lot of time for Peter Alliss - as I like his commentary and he gives a lot of his time to charity work. At one charity day at my place he and I spent a good while having a chat about this and that (also had a good chat with his very pleasant good lady). With me that day - no airs and graces from PA - and for someone in the 'public eye' or a celeb that's just dandy for me and marks him down as a good guy.
 
Why do old people seem to moan about the smallest of things. Is it because they have more time on their hands?
 
"Back in my day" used to really annoy me....
Now I find myself saying it more than I ought to...

One advantage of being in ones senior years is that you can head straight to the front of the queue without embarrassment...
