Evening All,

Day off today so went to AG to get some new golf shoes.

Rather than the Puma I actually preferred the Nike Lunar Control (some nice new colours), hadn't even thought of them before, but that's by the by.

The price for the shoes in AG was £120, which I know is way over the odds.

So, I looked on the internet on my phone and Golf Support were doing them at £74.99 which seemed much more like it.

When I put it to them in the shop they said they would go and check it but they do price match. When they came back they said the best they could do was £89.99!?

I did show them, again, the web page but they said £89.99 was the best they could do.

Is this how it normally works? Never tried to get them to price match before but was a bit surprised.

I did point out to them the stupidity that I had spent about half an hour looking at different shoes and making sure I knew what size was best in each but would then go and spend my money elsewhere.....

I've had this issue before. They promote their price match everywhere, but they won't always match. They have set margins they work to, and won't go below.

If you can wait for them to be delivered, just order through Golf Support, call and ask for Ben, he'l sort you out. The service has always been top notch, and they WILL price match. If you find what you buy cheaper within 7 days, they will refund the difference + an extra ten percent.

They also have a cracking loyalty scheme where you get points for everything you buy.

Cheers mullins, I'll definitely be going through Golf Support.

Just seemed really odd. As I say I hadn't tried the price match thing before. I also pointed out Clubhouse golf were only a few quid more again but weren't for budging.....

I'd have asked to speak to the manager in AG and explain that you didn't think it was on. I don't use them out of principle for most of my gear. Golf support weren't very good when I tried to order some adidas jumpers and it took nearly 8 weeks for the whole order to be dispatched and delivered. It's left me very wary about using them again although price wise they were pretty good

Go to the AG website and follow the Price Promise link at the bottom of the home page, it explains the price match criteria. If you can tick the boxes then they really should match your price. If they won't then phone them and ask why.

To my annoyance I found some black widow grips on another site for £3.99, I asked American golf to price match. They did, but they only price matched one...so I'd get one at 3.99 and another few at 6.99.

No logic to that!

So I've decided to wait and sand mine a little to get the tackiness back.

Black widow grips are pretty darn sexy!

To be honest they'd have lost my custom already. I don't have the time or inclination to argue a price down if I know I can get something cheaper elsewhere without the hassle. It's their loss.

to defend American Golf, i bought a new Cobra Baffler 3Hybrid the other day, £99 on the tag, said i could have it for £69. Paid with Tesco Vouchers and did me a pack of tee's for the £1 change :)
