I'm posting this stood on the 8th fairway at St Pierre.

Its warm and sunny, not a breath of wind. Course looks great, greenstaff are working and no flags out.

What a waste! Wow after 6 months of rain...decent weather...courses closed. Albeit for good reason

(Had my car in for mot today 5 mins walk away so am taking permissible excerise!)

Masochist? Stop torturing yourself and walk somewhere else! ;)

MOT deadlines have been extended 6 months today ( in case the motor fails it's MOT)(y)

I’ve see a couple of announcements about MOT’s, but what’s the spiel, surely they can’t just extend MOT’s that are due, that just potentially puts vehicles on the road that could be dangerous!

...another of a number of steps taken to cope with unusual circumstances. Un-roadworthy cars are on the road now with no MOT - (or tax and insurance) Their owners don't care!

But the huge majority of cars with MOTs will continue to be maintained as normal...and cars are currently doing less miles (at least mine it) So extending MOTs by 6 months isnt going to (per se) cause major issues.

For the first time today since god knows when last year, I did the dog walk in walking shoes and did not need wellies as the mud/ground has finally dried out enough in all places to not need them. So every cloud and all that....

I think I will make my current tank of diesel last about 4 months at the current rate of use.....

But many owners aren’t mechanics or would know if they need new brake pads or discs, until it’s too late!

I’m sorry but I don’t get this or like it.
I agree Robin, but that’s all that’s been released so far, simple things like ignoring tyre treads etc which can have huge consequences.

Our Chief Constable was on the local box last night, when asked about MOTs he said he could see no reason to change because garages are allowed to stay open.

Just seen this on the BBC website

Guess they need to be open for essential workers vehicles, but for most of us who are non essentiual they dont want us having an excuse to be out and about dropping off and collecting our vehicles, sometimes several times if they have to order parts etc to get the MOT done. Your CC was not wrong but has since been ouranked.

Dont forget that the mot just looks at the condition on that day
A week later and it could be failed if tested again but it has a year until it has to be looked at again.
Also, modern cars have vast arrays of warning lights and the important ones are all red.
It's not ideal but in the circumstances its understandable and a decent compromise.

After the rain.... we opened the full course for the first time in 5 weeks last Wednesday and the weather has been perfect since. Closed it again yesterday for gawd knows how long. :(:(:(
