K so the tiltes a bit of a joke but a post got me thinkging recently after a trip to AG. The customised putter thread made me ask a question at AG and i got an answer im not sure about....."its up to you whatever feels good"

I was having a look at the putters and there where 34 and 32" putters I think and I asked the bloke as Id had 1/4 inch cut of my shafts :o would I go for the smaller putter....he didnt seem confident in his reply.

What do u lads (and any ladies) think?

Sadly I wouldn't trust 95% of any advice given in AG. From bitter experience the vast majority of their sales staff are woefully lacking in product knowledge or general golfing knowledge

So your answer ....opinion would be? :D

it's up to you, whatever feels good.

Said the AG salesman

I was more looking for you need to be more up right or more bent over or putting is totally different to using irons so it doesnt matter?

Thansk for the reply though

If you need to ask on here it shows how much you personally trust the information you was given ;)

After the recent does every one talk trash thread i thought id see how many AG people work here,

seriously though is it better for me to have a tiny putter as im a short ass :o

twas kind of the point really. hence the smilie. Although, how anyone on a forum can be expected to give an opinion of your putting stance is beyond me. I can only suggest finding a method that works for you (there are many many methods) and then having a putter custom fitted to you, using that method..Or do what most people do and find a putter that works for your current style and get used to it.

;)

I was more comming at it from the fact that my irons were made shorter than standard so does it follow that my putter shaft needs to be smaller :D :D

Firstly. What is your h'cap?

Until I know this, I don't know if my answer will be 'phish'!!

;)

I dont officially have one ....but my club one which i dont belong to would be very very very very high....but I play of 1 in my head :D

I really don't think that a custom fitted putter is going to make much difference to anyone with a handicap over 5 or 6 (and maybe not even then). Its a flat piece of steel at the end of a stick. If you get to a point where you are putting only 20-25 times per 18 holes, and you think that a slight change might remove a single shot from those stats then custom fit away. If, like the rest of us pish takers, you are putting 30+ times per round, then good technique and green reading skills are vastly more important. Lie I said....find a putter that suits your style, with a comfortable shaft length, and practice til it's second nature.....
Danny

NO im not talking about custom fit.....there were 2 off the shelf sizes .....is it for short people and tall people or just the way you address the ball.....does the wrist to floor measurement come in to it?

In a way the AG guy was right...

If it feels right then it is right - putter-wise....
There's no real rules with putting. It's about getting the ball in the hole. If it takes a 30 inch putter or a 46 incher it doesn't matter and nodoby can tell you that one is better than another. Use a putter that works regardless of looks, length, hype, lie, grooves, colour etc etc etc
