I played yesterday (badly), and whilst taking the cover off my putter on the 2nd green, this happened:-

What you can see attached to the back of my putter, is one of the magnets from the putter cover.. Now this may look like a simple problem to fix, but Cern have been in touch and informed me that the magnets that Mizuno use come directly from their super dooper collider and as such are quite possibly the most magnetic things since George Clooney visited England.
I have tried pretty much everything to remove this minor irritation without success... So, does anyone have any suggestions. The wackier the better....
Please help me, I 3 putted 3 times yesterday with this thing attached..
:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Other than getting a very thin blade and forcing it under dont have a clue. If you do go down that road put some oil or something on to help stop marking the putter.

Hi Blue wolf, been playing with magnets since I was a kid in my da's scrap yard :)

Pretty sure that if you place strong magnets on the putter face in the opposite pole to the one on the back, you will weaken/repel the magnet on the back. You should be able to then lever it downwards to break the hold.

I have a box of neodinium magnets which would do the job. You can buy them online for about £10 each one can lift about 2kg.

Tried the needle nose pliers but due to the small surface area available to grip, coupled with the incredible magnetic properties of the offending item, iwas unsuccessful. The 2nd magnet idea might work though. I'll try that now.

You must feel like banging your head against a wall

thanks for the help guys. I popped into the engineers shop and used an even more super duper magnet, coupled with some needle nose pliers to remove the first magnet. Now i'm going to pop up to the golf club and disqualify myself from yesterdays match due to the altered playing characteristics..;).. on a less serious note, has anything equally, or more, stoopid happened to anyone else during a round...I need some funnies to stop the Engineers laughing at me....

I am sure I have seen somewhere that heat does in fact alter magnetic properties. Please dont take this as gospel
Heat does reduce magnetic properties, as cold increases them. Im not sure how much heat would be necessary to fully reduce the magnetism of the bar (Curie point), but i'm sure I don't want to apply excess heat to my beloved flatstick...

Go on, let's see if it works. You could end up with a slightly warped stick.:p
