• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

A serious post for a change......

My advice is that you keep this very well documented and find yourself a good lawyer in case it all goes pearshaped...

Don't worry Nikki. I am mate.
My appeal letter is going in tomorrow, and my appeal will be heard by another director.
I've got plenty up my sleeve should it go tits up. I don't want to use it, but I will if "necessary"
I just want to get on with my job and earn some money at the end of the day, not be shafted.

Well just to keep you updated.
My appeal letter went in last week, where I made it quite clear that I didn't think I had been given the chance to rectify my mistakes, and questioned why it had taken 10 days to decide that I had commited an act of "gross misconduct".
My Sales Manger (who I have always felt was being forced to do this by somebody else) had an "off the record" chat with me last night and said that he had no problem at all working with me, confirmed that his "hands had been tied" over it and sincerely hoped that the appeal went my way. He also told me that the Director dealing with it (our number one) would be popping down to have an informal chat with me.
I have just received a phone call from him and he confirms he is calling down tomorrow morning, first thing, for a cup of coffee with me and to have this chat.
He was very up-beat and friendly, reminded me that he has always been a fair man, and made me feel at ease.
My feelings are that this warning will be removed from my record. Will let you know.
Thanks for all the kind wishes and support once again
Rob

Hope it goes well smiffy, and tell them for the inconvenience you want next Thursday and Friday off so you can come down for the Beau Desert meet!! :) :D

All the best Smiffy; fingers crossed this is resolved amicably and without an more unnecessary hassle.

Cheers,
Ian

The very best of luck Smiffy. Beware your new best friend; white man speak with forked tongue!!

Keep your cool, stay calm and quiet. Let him have his say and carefully consider any response you give.

Oh, and don`t wear the white trousers :D

Good luck geezer.

Good luck with it tomorrow Rob. Sounds like they realise you can't be walked over and maybe eating a bit of humble pie!

I mean, who could not like or work with you eh? Knobs the lot of 'em!

Golfmmad.

Whatever you do Smiffy, don't keep checking the Forum while the big chief is with you - unless he's a golfer of course :D :D :D

If he is a golfer, invite him to Chartham Park on Thursday to make up the numbers. I'll put in a couple of quid towards his green fee.

Well the Director popped in this morning for a chat.
All very friendly.
He apologised for the delay in sorting out the appeal but he wanted to let me know that he is making full investigations into the fact that other members of staff at other branches may not have been treated quite so severely as I have with regard ITC errors.
He added that he was "aware" that another member of staff had made the same mistake as me and not been reprimanded, and if this was found to be true it was unfair that I should have been subjected to diciplinary procedures.
He confirmed that my appeal would be heard next week but he just wanted to apologise and in some way put my mind at rest.
It's looking good.

Smiffy,

Despite our odd run ins on here I think you are a decent and upstanding geezer (well you bought me a drink and thats good enough for me) and thought you got treated poorly. Fortuantely the bigger cheeses have seen that your line manager obviously has some kind of vendetta against you and has acted like a knob. Hoefully this will get sorted out as it should have been from the start. It might however be worth airing your grievances regarding sales commissions etc (from your previous threads) at the same time and at least paint the whole picture for them
