Hi, Just a quick question for anyone who has played or plays in and around Weymouth. Me and the other half are playing Weymouth on Friday and Comedown on sunday. Tried booking a tee time but the Pro in both clubs said just turn up and play as they have no booking system. Anyway does anyone know if these courses are very busy as I really don't fancy turning up at 9 or 10 am only to be hanging around for ages before we can play etc

They are both private clubs so (quite rightly) don't have a booking system. I would be very surprised if you had to wait more than 30 mins tops to get off on a Sunday morning.

Not a fan of Weymouth but Came Down is an enjoyable track with some very interesting greens.

Only played Came down, it's worth a trip. I reckon it will be rammed full of wrinklies between 9 & 10:o

See if you can go earlier

If you were to make such a derogatory and insulting remark about a racial minority or against women, I sure the moderators would have something to say, but ageist insults seem okay on this forum.

Anyway I had the pleasure of playing Camedown with a friend who is a member. Very interesting course with large craters which I am told are second world war bomb craters, not sure if true or not. I am also told Samuel Ryder of Ryder cup fame was a former old wrinkly member

Cheers for the replies. We are visiting the in laws and there house runs beside Weymouth GC and thought we would give it a try out. Camedown did get some good reviews and will let you know how it goes. :)

Calm down grandad, it's affectionate:confused:

/QUOTE] I quite agree, about time something was done about it.

Played Weymouth yesterday and have to say really enjoyed it. The course is tight as anything but the greens were exceptional. Both me and the missus both shot net under par which was a bonus too :)

However the best bit about the place has to be the members, they were super friendly and lost count how many times people came up to us asking how we are doing, playing and what we thought of the course! We have both played quite a few courses around the uk but never been made as welcome as the Weymouth bunch!

so any members on here please pass on my thanks to the committee etc :)

Came Down tomorrow which I have been told is little bit more than a hill with flags on it lol

You will enjoy Came Down , Very nice views and the course is on two levels , right side as you drive in is a mixture of down hill before climbing up again , some nice holes and yes there is one with a bomb crater on it , the 9 on the left is fairly flat and you can see out to the sea from some of the holes . They have a running carvery on sundays and one last bit of info , it is said Gary Player use to practice on there when he came over to play the open .

With regards to Weymouth , always been a friendly members course and they do good food there too , Have a few friends who are members there
