A Near Miss

I thought I would share a classic moment that I had last evening. A fellow player had hit a provisional to the green but had found his original ball. Asking if he would like me to return it he replied 'yes please'. At this point I scooped up the ball with my putter and tossed it from the toe of my club 6 feet above my head. As it came down I took both hands on the grip and swung at it, Baseball 'esk. I had never done this before and didn't expect to make even the slightest contact with the ball. But alas I hit it clean out of the middle of the face. Probably one of the purest contacts ever made with my putter. He ducked as it sailed over his head and buried itself in the brambles behind him. He never found it and it cost me a new Pro V1 out of my bag. Worth every penny though.

How many times would you have to try to do that again? Would love to have seen the look on his face!

Did the same thing last year except the putter head went further than the ball!!!

My mate does it regularly when making double bogey. Usually hits them into the farmers fields next to the course.

Cheaper than his old habit of breaking clubs though. He stopped that having replaced a set of irons and then a driver
