safe bogey!

I in theory only 2 putted! Hey its all about stats!!!!!

Are you SURE this was a first for you??

I did that once......my partner holed from off the green. I knew he would, just making sure I left him a putt from the right place ;)

Think I heard this referred to by Butch Harmon recently on the golf coverage as de-greening!

I did it at Blackmoor at the forum meet last year putting from the back of the 10th. :o

Luckily I was able to putt back up from the front fringe so didn't have to go back to the bag for another club.

Not difficult to do this on our first green if your approach puts you above the pin on a green that slopes sharply to the front. Have done it myself on more than one occasion and simply reassure myself I am re-positioning for an uphill putt:whoo:.

Remember one course I played many years ago. Can't remember the name of it. But it was a muni in Flixton, Nr Manchester. They had one green it had such a slope. Even if you putted up hill you had to hole it, or it rolled back past you and ended up 15/20 foot behind you on the fairway.

Few rotten down / across hill putts in our place & in the summer its easily enough done ..

2 years ago in captains qualifier our 16th index 1 had the silliest pin position ever , if you were putting down hill & went left or long of the hole just forget it , it was gone , alot of grumbles about it as hole is hard enough at the best of times ..

Texas Scramble yesterday Screwback managed to lip out from 20 feet at 14 and just as I said "that's the 3 secured" his ball proceeded to keep rolling and ended off down a bank off the putting surface!!

Can think of a few occasions this has happened, club champs at Studley Wood they shaved the bank and cut the pin right in the dip at the front, putted off as did half the field, but the worst by far was a Pitlochrie many years ago when on golf tour. Having not been to bed after a heavy night amazingly found the middle of the green in 2, pin at the front. Thought Id holed the putt, catches the lip and never stops, next thing I know its off the front and off down the hill and Ive got a pitch back in again lol

I did it at Goring and Streatley on a par three up the hill. Putted from the back, off the green off the front and rolled back near to the tee.:( Many have done it on our 1st, 10th and 18th when the flag is at the front.

I did hear that long putters were more difficult to control from long range though Crawford, so it might be the tool not the workman.
