A Degree of Common Sense at the Club

I was at a certain club and a group of "old duffers", to quote a previous post, were giving a couple of young lads a hard time about their inappropriate dress (which was actually within club guidelines as far as I was concerned). I was walking by and frankly it irritated me. I politely asked them if they had ever noticed, as I had, that the level to which some golfers felt the need to uphold their views on standards of dress appeared to be inversely proportional to their ability to play the game? By the time they worked it out I was walking away but I was more than ready to demonstrate my point had they wished me to prove my theorem.

And totally agree about the young lad enjoying his range session. Frankly if you can't block that out in a casual practice session you have no hope of blocking out distractions on the course. I quite enjoy being at the range at the same time as a school or junior coaching session - good practice on focus as far as I'm concerned.

My little one has just turned six, he can get very excited on the range or putting green if he hits a good shot. A few months ago he shouted to his coach, Johnny, Johnny did you see that. An old boy turned round and shouted to my boy and Johnny that he should be quiet and behave while at the golf club. Before Johnny or I could defend him another member on the range told the old boy to let the kid enjoy himself and that he'd have shouted and screamed if he'd hit that shot too!

Pot.
Kettle.

I hope johnny still enjoys his golf
