...is it £240 more awesome than my R9?

Sorry for another 910 post by the way.

Took the demo Titleist 910 d2 demo club out again this morning and gave the RIP shaft another go. Having initially thought it was a bit whippy I've changed my mind.

I hit it on 9 holes and hit 7 fairways on my way to a gross 6 over but I'm struggling to work out if it is that much better than my R9 which I hit with equal consistency.

The only thing the D2 has over the R9 is that I think it is about 10yds longer. It's difficult to say with the course softening up so I need to find some time to take both out for a direct comparison.

The question is, if it is just as consistent, is the extra 10yds really worth the money?

So, clearly an awesome club, but is it enough :D

Depends if you're happier hitting a 6 iron in or a 5...?
I probably wouldn't change for that amount of difference. If I could hit the R9, say, 250 straightish most of the time then I'd need probably 270 straightish most of the time with anything else in order to change.

That's exactly what I said to Jamie, the Asst Pro afterwards. If it was 20yds it might be worth it but 10? I'm not so sure.

Good shout about getting a percentage off with a trade in to soften the blow. From what I saw this morning you hit it equally if not more consitently than the R9 and the one down 2, 5 and 9 were pretty good and even with the soft conditions would definitely be longer than the current driver. I think it suits you and you aren't losing as many with hooks left (9 being your speciality) as you normally do and so I'd say from that perspective and the FIR numbers its a mut

Well I've just been down the club and done a head to head with the D2 and R9 and the nett result is the R9 is staying. The D2 is no longer than the R9, in fact the R9 edged it on distance and definitely won it on consistency. On one hole, I hit 4 balls, all the same make, all on the fairway and was amazed to find both the R9 balls 10-15 yards longer. The other thing about the R9, and one of the reasons I liked it in the 1st place, is the head is heavier. The smaller head on the R9 also looks better.

Which is all just as well as I can't really afford the 910 anyway :D
