Well had another round today at Gedney Hill, and well it was enjoyable. Started with a nice par 4, then into the long par 5 667yds, It just never ended, With the wet a boggy ground i had no roll, it was just punishment (but the enjoyable type)

Its the longest I have played, can you beat it ????

That just beats the 17th at Hever by a few yards.
644 off the blues, although it is usually played off the whites at 627.
I played in the Hever Open last year, bloody course was flooded with hardly any rollout at all. Took me three good woods to get anywhere near the green. I think I walked off with a well earned 7 for 1.

gedney is fairly close to me and played a few times there and it is or used to be advertised as the longest par 5 in england, dont know if it still is. all i know is thats a very open course and you hope the wind is in your favour

Lucky to have no wind today it was quite a fresh day, but still took a big drive a long 3 wood and a nice 8iron. I want to play in the summer and see how different it plays.

Played The Djupadal in Sweden last year, they have a 625 metre par 5 off the championship tee, the 18th IIRC, and it was uphill the last 200 yards to the green.

Can't remember what the distance was off the whites, but I hit a cracking drive, followed by a full 3 wood that just faded off at the end of its carry into the first cut and a full 4 iron which caught the greenside bunker short right.

The 3rd at my course is 712 off the whites.

I posted a few weeks ago how happy I was that they were shortening it as a new tee box had appeared. Found out the other day that the white tee is staying where it is and just moving the yellow tee up. Oh and they've added 2 new bunkers, guess they thought it wasn't hard enough.

I picked up a book recently 'Strange Golf Holes' (or something close - you will be hearing more of it). It seems that in days gone by playing long (and I mean loooong) holes was not that unusual. fairly typical was teeing off on one course and putting out on another.
there were also golf marathons - the longest of which was US west coast to east coast, that one took over a year.
