Two weeks on from getting my first ever Super Stroke grip, I putt terribly (previously had 2 good rounds with the new grip) and cost my partner and I the match with six three putts (or equivalent) including a three footer on the last to halve everything.

Horrendous.

Just one of those days or a big grip in very windy conditions in the hands of a newbie?

Not happy.....other than that, game in great shape so very frustrating.

What was the problem do you think?

Speed or direction?

Speed was fine. Direction awful. Several straight left and a couple almost blocked with big misses to the right.

Have spent the evening googling putters.

Maybe you've got the wrong size grip.
I love mine and has made a massive difference to my putting. In fact all 4 of us in our regular 4 ball now have them. Interestingly the last guy had his fitted last week and his putting has improved immediately.

Must be down to the size.... ooh er mrs 😄

Wouldnt say its the grip

I had this myself today.. 6x3 putts.. demoralising but couldnt blame the grip. greens were very fast and gusts of wind put the ball off path easy

Yes, it was very windy for us too but my playing partners managed to all putt well! We did agree in the bar afterwards that the extremely light pressure that I hold the putter with, combined with the wind, may have been influential factors.

When it's very windy it's easy to "snatch" at the putt when a lull comes along.
Even the best of us are susceptible to this Snelly.....
;)

Chalk it up to one of those things, OP. It happens to us all occasionally :) Haven't you posted about being in good form recently? If you get three rounds in a row like that perhaps get back to basics with alignment etc. etc. as it could be something more fundamental?

Am in agreement with you having had some time to reflect. Yes, am certainly in good form and tee to green were as good if not better than playing partners off 1 and 3.

After some consideration, I have concluded that it was all in the head. Our first hole is the toughest opening hole (statistically) in Yorkshire. Yesterday it was into wind and I was the only one to get on with two drivers - not as impressive as it sounds when you are placing in the first cut for your second shot. I 3 putted.

I did exactly the same on our 3rd hole. Two drivers to the green then 3 putted again.

Then missed two five footers on the 5th and 6th holes for birdie and par.

From this point on, I didn't think I was going to hole a putt all day and it became a self-fulfilling prophecy.

As is much with this game, it was all between the ears and Friday will be a different day........ and a different putter in the bag too. :)

I tried to use these fatter and roundy grips but just can't get on with them, have a thicker than avaerage pistol grip and feels much better. Don't let it get you down chap, windy winter greens are not a measure of your normal putting game by the sounds of it.

Re my earlier posts.....how close to the pin are you hitting your shots.
Under clubbing is a major factor of 3 putting for mid handicap amateur players.....long putts from the front of the green [and in many cases, ten yards short of the green counting as a putt]

Close enough. To 1 or 2 putt range.

It was a one-off. All in the mind.

Good to substitute the putter sometimes and let it know it's replaceable :D

Certainly sounds like a temporary issue letting your thinking get a little away from the shot in progress. I recently had a poor spell hitting short putts so starting gripping down on the grip (a SS Ultraslim, I may add) near the shaft and am holing from everywhere. It was a simple change but enough to take my mind off the result and just focus on the hole and job in hand.

Played on Tuesday with a PP who has hands like shovels. He was moaning like the clappers after two holes. I mentioned about getting a fatter grip. He pulled out his putter and he had it re gripped a month ago. Said it makes no differance.
I think his trouble is he came from Rufford where the greens are quite slow and flat compared to ours which are quicker and up and down. He does stand behind the ball and look at his line, but not look along the length of his putt. He inevitably knocks it miles past or miles short on his long putts. In the summer he won't be three putting. He will be four putting.
Me I was a machine on Tuesday. Lagged some gorgeous long putts within inches, dropping one on the 17th for a birdie. However on our 18th a par five, I was 12 ft below the pin. Straight as an arrow for my first ever 2nd consecutive birdie putt. I left it 6ft short. It would of cost me a fortune if there was a swear box on the bar. I missed the 6 footer as well for a 2" tap in. 40 points won it. If I had made that putt or the next. I would of won it. I can assure you one missed putt is as bad as 6x3 putts. Especially when you find out what it has cost you.
