Had a good game at The Glen GC at North Berwick this afternoon. Not a hard course but exposed to the sea winds!

Was my 50th 18 hole coure played and undoubtedly the best score on a first visit, knocked it round from the yellows in level par 70, really enjoyed it and putted beautifully with no 3 putts. Long game remains weak due to injury but my short game was razor sharp today.

Anyone else made a decent fist of a course playing it for the first time? Enjoyable isn't it? :)

Well played BM , nice to see your scores coming back after the injury. I have probably had a few good rounds on new courses but I dont usually have much of a memory for things like that. I'm getting near the 100 courses played but have never kept a definitive record.

I didn't start a record until I got to 50 so may have forgotton some. I missed playing my 85th today (Copt Heath) due to injury so will have to try and fit it in later in the year.

The best I have played on a new course was earlier this year at Branston in a golf society knockout. I played under my handicap and won 5 and 4. that made the journey back enjoyable!

Good shooting Stuart especially if the long games ropey.
Cant remember many of my first rounds but played Machrihanish for the first time this year and scored quite well but nothing like level par, well done.

Well done, Stu. Good shooting round there, especially first time. Remind me not to play you for money. You're already ahead of my Glen record by a shot and I've probably played it over 100 times now. Pesky incomers!

;)

That's some going after a layoff and a new course!

Again, nothing like level par, but I played Woodhall Spa Hotchkin in 1 better than hc (compared to SSS) which I was very pleased with.

i love the glen, its a great course like. for me it was quite challenging but it has started off a craze by me and a friend every month we play a new course thats within driving distance, and the glen was the first but by no means the last. some great holes to play, love links golf.

My last score was an 88 at Duns so I was very pleasantly surprised today.
I am having to club up about 2 clubs on my long game to make the distances just now which is hard going on the long holes. Hit a lot of greens today despite that but the ball flight is pretty low. Short irons were decent and really enjoying the Bridgestone B330RX ball, as good as any out there I think.
Got another game Saturday so hoping for more solid putting.

I stayed in North Berwick at the Marine hotel overlooking the west links last year with the missus.

Having to look at that course knowing I didn't have the clubs with me was torture.
