Hiya,

I'm looking to buy a 4 wood to see if that'll help me get the ball in the air from the fairway on those longer shots.
However, on ebay a large proportion of the 4 woods for sale are Ping G10s... is there any reason for this?

Was it a popular club at the time? Are they any good..?

I like Ping gear, so I'd happily buy one if the reviews are good.

I'm looking at Cleveland and various other makes and models, so if you've any recommendations I'd be happy to hear them

Cheers
SB :)

Best 4 wood I've ever used and had it for 10 years is the Callaway Steelhead 4+ , makes a fantastic sound as well.

Once I get my TM RBZ 11 3 wood it will be good to compare the 2

I had a 4 wood in the bag for a while, useful addition IMO. Not many manufacturers were selling them at that time. Ping were certainly one of the more obvious ones, but they always seem to hold a good price on ebay.

I seem to remember them getting good reviews but can't say I have used the fairway woods myself. The driver was good.

Wouldn't be too worried about there being a lot on eBay; Ping do sell a lot so there will be a lot out there, they are now up to the G25 I think, so people will be looking to change. Use it to your advantage & score a bargain.

I went for the TM RBZ HL 3 wood. A 3 wood with more loft... best of both worlds.

That's certainly one thing I'm looking at Hobbit - The Rapture V2 and K15 3 woods are 16 or 16.5 degrees, so I am looking at loft, not just the number on the bottom :)

I'll keep looking, I'm certain I'll 'Gibbo' something soon  ;)

the R11S 4 wood is very good as is the Mizuno MP. Had the G10 and it was pretty easy to use,it's more the swing than the club, personally I like the shallow headed clubs for this like the r9 and Ping G15/20.

I think the reason there are lots of g10 4 woods is twofold, 1) ping g10 range was very popular 2) 4wood has made a comeback recently, it wasn't easy to get one from a lot of manufacturers until the last couple of years. G10 era ping were making 4woods so anyone who wanted one had to look at ping.

I think I offered you the g20 I have but the shaft was no good. Based on that club I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a ping 4wood.
I only changed because I wanted more length from the tee as a sometime driver alternative and also found once I had it that I can launch a 3w from the deck ok.

 I think your G20 had a stiff shaft and I'm looking for regular. The G20 looks like a nice club so it's absolutely on my radar, provided I can get the right shaft :)

The vrs range from last year was a game improvement range so no problem there. But if too pricey for an experiment then fair enough.

I have a g15 4 wood in the bag with a VS proto shaft, it's a cracking club and I wouldn't swap it for anything else out there.

I can't understand why 4 woods are not more popular, maybe its because the manufacturers would have us believe that we all strike the ball so well that we need both a 3 and a 5.

I just picked up a G20 4 wood with stock regular shaft, I like my Reg G15 driver but the G20 shaft feels a bit whippy - anyone else notice that?

I carry a 4 wood these days.

Main reason is it's a little easier to hit than the 3 wood as it has more loft, and is longer than a 5 wood, mainly down to shaft length.

Personally, I'm not consistant enough to get a constant distance gapping between my 3 and 5 woods and with a 4 wood I don't have to.

I put a 4 wood in the bag and it was a great move. For me it is way more forgiving than a 3 wood and unless you are always hitting the sweet spot you wont get much loss in distance over a 3 wood in average terms

Love using it off the deck as well
