Well im entered in a 36 hole matchplay knockout and played my away leg of the tie today.. played awful and walked away 4 down. Any tips for what I should do to pull this back at my home course and do you think its possible.

Of course it's possible! I've come back from five holes down to win before, playing over 18 holes, and I'm rubbish!! ;)

Just keep the head and play your game. You'll know your course better than your opponent, so just play to your strengths and don't take on shots you can't play. :)

Has he played your course a lot? Local knowledge especially on the greens can be a big help as can knowing the best areas to miss if you are going to hit a bad shot. If he hasn't played there a lot these will help and 4 down is doable

In Matchplay anything can happen. A month ago I played in one at my home course and was 4 down after 6 holes but managed to win 1 up. I had another a year ago and lost the first 3 holes but ended up winning 4 and 3. Just don't let the deficit pressure you in to thinking you need a load of net birdies (That's when your game is likely to go downhill. Just keep aiming for net pars and you'll still get your odd ned birdie. It's likely that net pars will win several holes anyhow. Good luck

Is the correct answer.
I played Bobmac at Woburn a few weeks ago. 36 hole match. After 9 holes I was 4 down. Playing terribly, and I thought I was lining myself up for the drubbing of the century!
Then something clicked (and it wasn't Bobs back). I played brilliantly on the back 9. Despite a N/R on the 12th where I found the water I played the other 8 holes one over gross and walked off the 18th 1 up! Bob went on to win the match overall (1 up) but just shows what is possible.

Of course its possible you can turn this defecit around just be patient dont take agin unecessary risks early on and hopefully home advantage will tell on the day, in matchplay its so easy for things to turn around quickly. Good luck,
