4 clubs & a putter. Which club????

Hybrid 3, 8i, PW, 58 and putter.

TBH, it probably doesn't make any difference, as long as you can get out of bunkers. I bet you could shoot within 4 shots of your h/cap with any combination of 5 clubs. In fact, you could probably do it with 2 clubs and a putter.

When ever I have played in this type of comp, it is surprising how little difference it makes.

4i, 6i, 9i sw for me.

My reasoning would be that the longer iron would be hitting more fairways than a wood. If I can get the 4i 200 yards consistently then who needs a driver, most par 3s are within that and most par fours would be at most two 4 irons and a small pitch, par 5s would be similar with a longer third with the 9i or sw. The game is about getting the ball in the hole and being handy round greens, that job is made easier if you are approaching them in regulation and not hacking out of the rough which seems to happen far too often.
