Love my gadgets - had a quick demo at a local Sony store of a 3D telly - they set me a footie demo and a racing game demo.

And it was MINDBLOWING!!!! Serious - I really can see the football and the gaming market taking this on pretty fast. Golf should be good - especially if you had some green details. Footie showed teh player and ball position brilliant - you really felt like you where at the stadium.

If you are near a sony shop - pop in and ask them for a demo- When I asked how much the man just laughed and said 'too much - give it another year' So dont know the price, but I am sure its not cheap.

Not seen one in the flesh yet but certainly not upgrading yet as we've only had the 46" in our living room for a year or so and its great!

Looks like total 100% rubbish to me... why would I EVER want to watch something in 3D? TV is fine as it is... in fact it's WORSE since digital came along as you often get pixellations on the screen that you'd never have got in the old days.

Di Stewart, Paula Creamer, in 3D .................but you should see them in colour first!

I'm not an expert, but it's not surprising as I didn't think that B/W tele with 405 lines could pixellate (sp) :D

I know what JOUK means...3D is all well and good on a massive screen at the cinema, (Avatar 3D is all I've seen), but I can't personally see it working that well on the relatively smaller screens in the average home. Plus no way would SWMBO allow anything larger than 26" in our lounge! ;)

I am just building a telly room for a decent sized flat screen. Won't go 3D though. Can't imagine sitting in a room with a pair of silly glasses on just to watch the footy. Might make me spill my Stella.
Over priced gimic in my view. It will be ages before there are sufficient programmes made in proper 3d to warrant the expense.

Gotta agree it will be ages till there is a lot of stuff out for it - but get a demo and you will be suprised at how good it is.

As for the glasses - stoopid I admit - but light enough to wear and I would wear them to get the benifit of teh 3d for footie or certain games.

It may sound (and probably is) stupid but I might have to patent this ...

Try watching some action stuff with one lens of a pair of sunglasses over one eye only (right eye works best for me).

And, I think I know why it works

Only works for some people - but I do get the benifit. I remember someone explaining how it worked, but fell asleep.

Is it somthing to do with wavelength and the time the brain takes to register the same item in diffeent colours through the different lenses?

It's to do with darker images being processed slightly slower by the brain, so wear glasses with one dark and one clear lens and the two images your brain processes are different. For stationary images this doesn't mean anything, but if an object is moving across your screen, side to side, it will appear to come out of the screen a bit, (or receed into the screen, depending which way it's moving).

Works well on a horse-race or watching skiing. Also works on football, as long as the men always run left to right (or vice versa). ;)
