3/4 irons.......

I actually bought it for the shaft without seeing or trying the head but it is a beautiful club very very long it has a nice sound its easy to hit and I recommend it highly

Embrace and enjoy

Can't argue with that and it is a good shaft.

Nice sound as the guy in the video has just nutted that one.

I dropped my 5 wood & 3 iron. I then replaced them with a rescue wood which sits right between my 3 wood & 4 iron, distance-wise.
That means I can carry an extra wedge.

Snap, 19 degree for me with no 5 wood or 3 iron. Thinking about a 22 and ditching my 4 iron too but i'll persevere for another few months.

Ditto and makes me comfortable I have all distances covered.

I have a 3 iron and use it often. Off the tee and for long shots as I only carry a three wood, not a five.

I have tried hybrids but have not got on with them as I find them to have a propensity to make the ball fly miles too high.

I am not trying to be a purist or anything, it's just that long irons work for me and hybrids don't. This is mostly in the head I guess...

Eh ?

4 iron 180-190
3 iron 190 - 210 max
5 Wood 210-230 ish

replaced with a Hybid which goes 185 - 195 .......

Am I missing something?

Yeah, distance (if those are your yardages)!

More like:

3 wood: 235-240
Rescue: 220-225
4 iron: 205-210

The principle is that my rescue wood fits directly in the middle of my 3 wood & my 4 iron.

I was advised that this would be a good idea whilst being custom fit for my clubs at the Belfry (National Golf Academy).

I have hybrids and I have a 3 & 4 iron; the 4-i I use on one particular hole off the whites, should maybe use it more.

I'm trying to learn to use the 3-i because I just like hitting irons. When it works I can get it to go a long way, when it works is the operative bit!

I don't like hybrids off the tee, but I'm marginally better with them off grass than I am with long irons - which is to say I'm not very good with either.

You and me are the same then!

Still, I managed to cover 425 yards with two shots off the same club today (21 degree W/S) and then got up and down for a par on the monstrous 450 yard S.I. 2

There must have been some wind or something because I can't ever remember getting even 200 yards with my tortoise-speed swing. :)

I think there is a place for a 3 iron in the modern game for some players but for many a hybrid would be the more sensible choice. Is it a case of vanity over sanity and the thought that a 3 iron looks the more impressive club to hit.

Personally I'll leave it up to everyone to make their own choices. I know from my own game that I wouldn't get the same consistancy I get with the hybrid and so the "devils club" stays
