Was very excited about my round booked for Wednesday. I'm on my own, and I've just found out that there is one cart booked in the threeball that I've been paired up with.

Now, this could mean that one of the three needs a cart for whatever reason, but it could mean that they are expecting me to stump up or sare the cost of the 2nd cart with the 3rd other player... I really, really don't want to play with a cart, as I'm looking forward to the full experience. I also find play slower, and far less fun.

Would you take a cart if you had the choice?

Yes, it'll probably me quite slow so you can chill out and have sit down whilst waiting.

It's pretty simple to me, I prefer to walk, as it gives time to think about the shot, feel the wind and it's bloody good exercise. If I want to walk then noone should expect me to cough up.

I agree, if you want to walk then don't let them guilt you into coughing up for the buggy.

I will always walk for the same reasons as mentioned above. Think about your next shot, enjoy the views, exercise etc..

If you want to walk it then let the them share the cost of 2 buggies.

Hello mate, walk it. It's a lovely walk.

I prefer to walk for the simple reason that I go to the ball and select the club to use and not have to go back to the buggy to select another, I have seen the buggy crowd on the other two courses go back and forth to get clubs or shout to another of the group to bring them another club. Very annoying when your playing on the next fairway.

Have you taken a look at the fly by guide for the Twenty Ten course on the website ?

Just to give you an idea how the course played on the weekend, the 2010 medal on Sunday was won with a gross 85 (nett 75) and out of the 26 who posted a card, 12 scored 100 or more gross. While the css was 78. There were 5 nr's

Have a good day, they will treat you well down there.

I played the 2010 last May with the Squire and can confirm how hard it is. I started well with 3 pars and then went rapidly downhill! Had 9 double bogeys coming in!!!

Can understand a cart if your in a hurry or its a major long course otherwise a nice leisurely walk and enjoying your round is the best.
Agree with pokerjoke, only been in a buggy once at Spey Valley because it was included in the price. liked it between the long holes but prefer to walk between shots.

I hate buggies unless its a necessity like playing abroad or a course with excessively long walks between greens and tees. The problem with sharing a buggy is when you hit to either side of the fairway. Unless you drive across after the first player has hit (and hacking everyone queueing behind) one of you ends up with a handful of sticks and hoping the right one is in there.

Golf is all about the walk, the views and the time between shots. Definitely a no for me

Only time i ever use a buggy is at an annual golf weekend and they're included in the price. Apart from that, I hate the things.

Tough. Horrible gross score, handful of GIR, and one or two birdie opportunities, which I didn't take. Not a course for the likes of me to potter around - you have to be good.

As for the cart situation, I was grouped with a singleton with a cart, and a pair with a cart. Really nice guys, pleasure to play with, but there was pretty much no time during the round where I held them up. In fact, I don't think I could bear to play with a cart, all that grabbing 3 clubs, walking to the other side of the fairway, etc, etc.

At no stage did I hold up play because I could walk from ball to ball as the crow flies, same from green to tee. (Other than the 15th which is a 60 second walk for me, and the 18th)... I was always ready to play the shot.

I'm not convinced that buggies are that much quicker. Between holes that are far apart yes, and they do help with heart attack hills but unless the people in them are prepared to get out and walk occasionally, they can slow the game down.

I'd prefer to walk and I'd carry for 18, or use the trolley for 36.
