2 to Scratch?

,

Short game for sure , you watch them on tour , not many times they do not get up and down , its the same thing for myself , but I just do not have the time in the last few years but short game is the way forward for sure .........................EYG

Practice your weaknesses not you strengths.

Can't remember you having many FD, but didn't you mention your driving ?

I have played a few rounds with Louise, drive4Shows scratch friend, and her driving is a real strength. long and straight. Enables her to hit a lot of greens with short irons, and not have to rely too much on her short game to avoid bogies.

Think Louise got down to scratch recently, so perhaps Gordon can put you in touch to find out how she did it ?

Thanks rich. Frustratingly that was the strength of my game - long and straight driving. It just went off this year, while I made a huge improvement with irons, and I think I have screwed myself up trying to fix it. Had a good lesson this week that picked up a big setup issue that had crept in and a drill to sort things so I'm confident it'll come back!

Sounds good. Very easy for a small fault to creep in, and very difficult to diagnose yourself.

Having seen you play, I think you can get down to scratch.

with folks that have got a decent grooved mostly successful swing action

the issues faults tend to creep in most often in set-up/aiming alignments & ball position relative to both distance away from & within the stance width
plus changes in body angles, head position & tilts, how the structure of the joints ankles/knees/hips/shoulders stack up on the vertical
why you see most Tour Pro's & elite ams spend a whole bunch of time relatively speaking on set-up etc in practice

one thing a lot of folks don't do but is for sure real useful is during a period of playing & striking the ball well is to document the swing through the bag including the flat stick on video in slow motion both from the caddy view & dtl + some grip hold close ups

so there's a library of good stuff to compare/contrast & quantify the set-ups & motion against the motion that's giving issues

majority of folks only tend to video the swing (& that from 1 viewpoint only) when stuff has already gone south some

That's exactly it coach, ball position had crept right back, I'm not addressing it at the middle of the club and I'm hanging back on the shot. Other than that we reckon it's just timing. Confident it'll come with a bit of perseverance now.
