Hi all,
Recently I have been striking the ball really well, but can't seem to convert the chances i give myself. I consistently seem to be hitting at least 13/14 GIR at the moment but I cant seem to make many putts and it's really frustrating. So i was browsing the internet on putting when i came across the 2 thumb grip. Does anyone have 1 of these? Or does anyone have any thoughts on them?
Cheers

I posted recently on a change to a jumbo putter grip. Its not quite a 2 thumb putter but certainly feels better in the hand than the normal thinner ones.
Early days yet but I have certainly been bothering the hole a little better with it.

For the last 3 weeks i have been using the 2 thumb grip, but with my normal putter , i am reluctant to change the grip on my putter as , i am getting on so well with it and i know that the new grip will not fit in my putter tube or between the dividers in the bag. But the actual grip of having the hands level really helps keep the 'Y' shape, the wrists quiet and the putting has been fantastic :D

If you have issues with your putting of course it 's worth a try, it won't cure bad putting but different styles suit different people and it's a case of finding what works for you.
Tape something to either side of your normal grip to get a feel of the wider grip , if it feels right your half way there

I've been using one for nearly 18 months now and love it.

Click on the putting tips section, its great and very useful. Want to know anything else, just PM or ask me.

Not for me. Think they are a bit naff. Why not learn how to putt properly.

Why not learn how to swing properly? Your handicap may fall!

I understand the concept of the 2 thumb putter and have no problem with golfers using it. It is no different in my eyes to using a 9 wood (or a chipper) and if it makes the stroke more solid and you hole more putts then great. I don't think it has anything to do with learning to putt. Putting is more than the stroke anyway.

Lol at the learn to swing quotes from the pros :)
Putting is personal, if you can putt with a bit of cheese on a cocktail stick and it conforms to r&a go for it.
Chippers are the exception and always will be.

i fitted a 2 thumb putter grip on my putter about a month back, and i must admit it takes a bit of getting used to.
i do find however it does help me on my shorter puts, 3/4/5 footers, but the long puts are still a work in progress.
i think the light weight version of the 2 thumb may be better for me, i may get one and try it ???

Look at that, a picture of my bag from yesterday, and guess what my TM Itsy Bitsy is sitting in the putter well complete with 2 thumb grip?

Next meaningless dig please..........

I've had a 2Thumb grip for about a year now and I absolutely love it. It helps keep my hands out of the stroke and promotes a nice pendulum action. As a result my putting has dramatically improved.

Granted it's not for everyone but I went and met up with Phil Gazeley, who designed it, at Bedford Golf Club where he allowed me to try some demo putters fitted with the grip. Once I was happy I wanted to proceed he gave me a putting lesson and fitted the new grip for me all for £20.00!!

As for fitting into golf bags, I was recently looking for a new bag and the only problem I found was if the bag had an external putter well, the majority are too small. The exceptions to this were the new Ping Pioneer, Sun Mountains C130 and the Bag Boy which has a clip rather than a tube.

Hope this helps.
