2-4-1 courses

No enemy, just another option and a view, there are some decent articles printed in other Golf Magazines, not just this one.

I subscribe to one and generally buy another during the month depending on whats in the magazine, and what I would like to read/know.

Anyway back on track 2-4-1 deals are a great way to play other courses at reasonable rates.

I've got a 2-4-1 voucher I'm hoping to use with HTL on May 8th. I'm not sure where we're playing yet but if anyone else fancies joining for a 4 ball let me know. I was thinking of Wokefield Park.

Some Courses within easy access of Burton that accept 2fore1 vouchers:

Morley Hayes(Cheapish deal here. Has improved greatly over the last few years)
Uttoxeter(Runs up the side of the hill by the Horserace track)
Branston G&CC(A Riverside course, can flood but drains very easily)
Lingdale(Course of two distinct halves, the newer secton on the other side of the road)
Rothley(Lush Course)
Mickleover (Bit short & locked in by houses imho)
Lichfield (Seedy Mill) (do make sure you book as a 4 ball here)
Wellingborough (Lovely rolling course set in the grounds of a stunning old fashioned clubhouse (Allestree could learn some lessons from Wellingborough))
Belfry PGA National (Links'y feel in places after a parkland style of start)
Brailsford (12 holes with some additional teeboxes to give an 18 hole. Can get stacked, but can also be quiet, nice little knock. Some days of the week can turn up and get a good deal without a 2fore1)
Breadsall Priory (Very Close to Morley Hayes 2 good courses)
Ashbourne (Not the easiest of courses to find/get to even though close to the Mainroad)
Trent Lock (Public course on flood plain, but don't let that put you off)

Most on List are ones I have played, the only other couple I've added are ones I know for a fact are good. Any others I will have left out.

There are other price deal to be had with the likes of say Green free or Tee Times etc. And some clubs like West Midlands do an online booking service to give good value rounds without the need for 2fore1's ect.

cheers for that i will look in to them. Which was the best out the 1s you listed?

Best course without a question of a doubt on that list is The Belfry's PGA National. If eating or using the benefit of the bar, take plenty of dosh. Even the coffee is expensive, but the course makes up for it.

Best value deal has to be a toss up between Morley Hayes & Uttoxeter, I'll give you the reasons for Uttoxeter via PM if you are interested, but you'll probably find out for yourself if you go, though you need to be a mountain goat for Uttoxeter.

Best day out if you can fit in 2 rounds has to be Lingdale as the 2fore 1 price is based on day ticket price, so you might as well play 2 rounds anyway. The food is good & the Cider welcome at half time, after which give you another round to clear it out of the system.

Branston can'treally be beaten for a local 2fore1 right on the doorstep. good greens usually. Apparently they have been doing some upgrades & not sure whether theyve finished them yet.

Re: 2-for-1 courses

I have a greenfree voucher, which is (i.m.o.) the most pointless voucher I've ever had. I'd rather a voucher for a manicure or a free grande mocha.

I'm going to be using the site bob posted...

At least I've heard of these places and there are some genuine bargains.

I'll look into 2-for-1, it used to be a very good scheme.

Greenfree courses in the midlands are very limited. As I've also experienced, though I know of a few decent ones worth a punt.

Visiting the Southwest this week & there is plenty of choice, just as well as I've 3 greenfrees to use by June, so I'd best get playing, even if things are tight...

If you don't want it I'm sure there are others can make use of your greenfree's

yeh iv played morley really like it cant go wrong for a tenner. iv heard mixed reviews on uttoxeter gives me a pm and let me no how good/bad it really is. Sometimes nip down branston to the range, course looks very good its one on the list to play. Hopefuully doin the pga at the belfry when the handicap improves a bit.
